Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza Details
Yakuza and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio (RGGS) have a long history of games for PC, Steam Deck, PS4, PS5, and Xbox, and soon Majima will join the roster with Pirate Yakuza, which now unveils details about the story, characters, and more.
Both the publisher (Sega) and the developer have released updates and screenshots, offering more context about the adventure starring the infamous Shimano Mad Dog.
Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is a wild experience, with a special focus on Goro Majima. Half a year after fighting alongside Kiryu at the Millennium Tower, Goro Majima washes ashore on an island, found amidst the wreckage of a shipwreck.
A young islander, Noah, saves his life, but Majima awakens with no memories and can’t even remember his own name. The only clues to his past are the tattoo on his back and the dagger at his side,” this is how the game begins.
After quickly dispatching them and seizing their ship, Majima embarks on a high-seas adventure to recover his memories and repay Noah by fulfilling his dream of seeing the world.
Rumors of a legendary treasure stir the waters around the outlaw paradise known as Madlantis. Captain Majima and his crew are about to dive into the dusty world of rogue sailors.
Among the characters, we once again see Majima (voiced by Hidenari Ugaki), along with the young Noah Rich, Jason Rich (his father), Masaru Fujita (a bodyguard and cook), and Teruhiko Shigaki (one of the Tojo Clan Patriarchs), among others.
Characters
However, one character that has particularly caught attention is Goro, a small tiger and Noah’s friend, voiced by Kazuhiro Nakaya (Kasuga in Like a Dragon and Infinite Wealth), as detailed by Gematsu.
“Captain the Goromaru as you explore the vast ocean! During your voyages, you’ll discover lighthouses, treasure islands, and other locations.
Don’t forget to prepare your cannons, as you may have to engage in a Pirate Battle against dangerous marauders lurking about!” reads part of the description.
“Dodge enemy bombardments and fire cannon volleys at the hulls of other ships. Once you’ve dealt enough damage, board the ship with your crew and fight to secure victory.”
In these naval battles, youโll need to upgrade your ship and strategically deploy your forces, as well as enhance your crew.
Recruit over 100 sailors and customize your ship with various designs, decorations, stronger armor, and more powerful cannons.
Among the places to visit is Rich Island, where Noah lives with his family. It was unnamed at first, so they named it after themselves. It’s mainly inhabited by fishermen, but people from all walks of life have arrived.
Other locations include Madlantis (similar to the Gaiden Coliseum), Nele Island, and even Hawaii, described as “one of the most famous tourist destinations in the world.”
Goro Majimaโs grand pirate and amnesiac adventure arrives on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store on February 21, 2025, with pre-orders available now.
