Juutas Reviews: Castlevania -Lords of Shadow-

Lords of Shadow will be having a long waited sequel later this month, I thought I would review the Ultimate edition of the game that rebooted the classic Castlevania series, so people who have not played it yet have still time to get hyped for Lords of Shadow 2!

    • I miss 2D Castlevanias as well…I haven’t played the mirror of truth (it got so bad reviews from everywhere) or the 3DS ones (Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclessia), so it has been a while since I got that sweet 2D Metroidvania high~

  1. I got this game and was enjoying it alright, but it did not feel like a Castleavania game and I found the clunky mechanics very lacking for what is supposed to be a precision execution fighter. Aiming for the platinum, I found some of the challenge rooms tedious because of invisible pixels and bad renders, and this ultimately made me put the game on hold. I don’t think I will be picking up Castlevania 2 unless the developer has made significant changes on its approach to gameplay polish.

  2. It didn’t feel like a Castlevania game, but I think it was still pretty solid adventure game.
I have nothing against 3D Castlevania as a concept (Hell, I actually enjoyed Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness) but I too would like to see some decent budget 2D Castlevania in the future.

  3. Okay! I am now hooked into giving this game series a try. LOL
    Nice video and review Juutas!
You never fail to enlighten, intrigue and entertain!

Some advice, plz. What should be my noob game progression? Start at game 1 and play my way through…or does it truly matter?

    • Thank you for the kind words 🙂
If by game series you mean Castlevania games I would suggest you would start with the strongest ones like Symphony of the Night or Aria of Sorrow ( my favorites ), but Castlevania is a great series in a sense that every game is it’s own story really so it’s easy to hop in to any game of the series.
