A Trophy Guide & Roadmap for Infamous 2, explaining how to get the platinum trophy for this PS3 title.

In a now desperate time, Cole McGrath is confronted new dangers in the City of New Marais as he is assaulted by militia, swamp beasts, and in the midst of all the chaos; the beast, a new enemy bent on the destruction of humanity.

This game will need a minimum of two playthroughs and along with this you will need to complete the game on hard. Be sure to deal with missable trophies when it’s possible to complete them as well.

Unlocked after attaining all trophies within the game.

Pain Builds Character

In order to unlock this trophy you will need to beat the game on hard, due to the requirement of two playthroughs however it’s recommended you do this on your second playthrough as you will have a better understanding of what to do and where to go.

Just One More

This can be a time consuming trophy as there are up to 305 blast shards hidden throughout the city of New Marias, but fear not! There is an easy method of unlocking this trophy by first completing all the side missions in the game. Afterwards you will be able to purchase the ability Blast Shard Sense, which will help in finding the blast shards scattered throughout the city.It’s recommended to do this trophy on your first playthrough of the game, so the enemies you encounter won’t hinder your progress on your second playthrough.

With Great Power comes Greater Power

This will be one of the last trophies that you unlock in this game as it will be required for you to unlock all of the powers within the game. To do this you will need to purchase all of the positive karma powers, neutral karma powers, and negative karma powers. The best way to do this is to go throughout your game and purchase the powers that become available to you as soon as you can.

Shardcore

Fight the Good Fight

This will unlock after you’ve completed the game by choosing the positive karma choice at the end of the game. Depending on what you choose this will be either be completed on your first or last playthrough, but make sure that if you choose this option that you have consistently chosen the positive karma choice throughout your playthrough in order to ensure that you can buy all of the powers.A few things to keep in mind:

  • Throughout your positive karma playthrough you will unlock the following trophies: Quid Pro Kuo, Ambulance Chaser, Status Kuo, and Exposure.
  • In order to unlock this and the listed trophies above you will need to choose to go to two destinations in missions, picking the blue waypoint to follow on your map will lead you to the positive karma choice.

Forging Your own Path

This will unlock after you’ve completed the game by choosing the negative karma choice at the end of the game. Depending on what you choose this will be either on your first or last playthrough, but make sure that you have been consistently making negative karma choices throughout your playthrough in order to ensure that you can buy all of the powers.A few things to keep in mind:

  • Throughout your negative karma playthrough you will unlock the following trophies: A Streetcar Named ‘Boom!’, Playing Both Sides, Get Nix’ed, Am I the Daddy?.
  • In order to unlock this and the listed trophies above you will need to choose to go to two destinations in missions, picking the red waypoint located on the map will lead you to the negative karma choice.

Land Lord

It’s my Town, Now

In order to unlock this and Land Lord, you will need to take complete control over and island by completing side missions found there. Normally these missions will be unlocked and available to you after you’ve completed a certain mission within the main storyline, however in some instances you will not see a mission listed in a certain area. In this case you will need to enter that enemy controlled area and knock out militia until you see a yellow icon on a soldier. Activate the icon on the soldier, once you do you will be sent on a mission that will either involve you finding a hidden package or destroying a convoy.

Well inFORMED

In order to unlock this you will need to collect all 30 dead drops. The first will be mandatory to find as it will be apart of a story mission however the others will not be so easy to find. The best way to unlock these dead drops is to comb the islands, in other words you will need to move from one side of the island to another. The dead drops will eventually appear on your minimap once you get close enough to them.However if you need further assistance on finding them a map is provided here.

Arch Villian

In order to unlock this trophy you will need to achieve full negative karma on your negative karma playthrough. The best way to go about doing this is to simply choose negative karma choices when given the chance to in the game. Instances where you can choose these include completing red missions that become available to you, killing and bio-leeching citizens, and choosing the negative karma option in storyline missions.Keep in mind

  • The missable trophy ‘The Cleaner’ is one of the optional negative karma missions and is recommended that you do it as soon as it becomes available.
  • Unlocking the title ‘Infamous’ will not unlock this trophy, as it is not equal to having maxed out negative karma.

Incorruptible

In order to unlock this trophy you will need to achieve full positive karma on your positive karma playthrough. The best way to go about doing this is to simply choose positive karma choices when given the chance to in the game. Instances where you can choose these include completing positive karma missions that become available to you, restraining militia, healing civilians, and choosing the positive karma option in storyline missions.Keep in mind

  • The missable trophy ‘Frozen Asset’ is one of the optional negative karma missions and is recommended that you do it as soon as it becomes available.
  • Unlocking the title ‘Hero’ will not unlock this trophy, as it is not equal to having maxed out positive karma.

Behind the Curtain

A Streetcar Named ‘Boom!’

This trophy will unlock after choosing and completing the negative karma option in the mandatory storyline mission ‘Torn’.

Quid Pro Kuo

This trophy will unlock after choosing and completing the positive karma option in the mandatory storyline mission ‘Torn’.

Playing Both Sides

This trophy will unlock after choosing and completing the negative karma option later on in the game.

Ambulance Chaser

This trophy will unlock after choosing and completing the positive karma option later on in the game.

Am I the Daddy?

This trophy will unlock after choosing and completing the negative karma option in the mandatory storyline mission ‘Rail Yard Intel’.

Exposure

This trophy will unlock after choosing and completing the positive karma option in the mandatory storyline mission ‘Rail Yard Intel’.

The Cleaner

To unlock this trophy you will need to have completed the missions Taking Out the Trash, The Hunt, and Assassin’s Greed. Take note that these missions will give you negative karma so it is recommended that you complete them during your negative karma playthrough.

Frozen Asset

To unlock this trophy you will need to have completed the missions Unlikely Allies, Stay Frosty, The Big Chill, and Mercy Kill. Take note that these missions will give you positive karma so it is recommended that you complete them during your positive karma playthrough.

Dazed and Defused

In order to unlock this trophy you will need to start the mission ‘The Gauntlet’ during this time you will eventually run across the man responsible for the blast shard bombs, once you do you will have to chase him down until you he stops and uses his hostages against you. You can choose one of two options with this quest one of which will affect you with positive karma and the other with negative karma.

Back to the Bayou

In order to unlock this trophy you will need to make a return visit back to the area you started in at the beginning of the game. This is best done with static thrusters as it makes getting there much easier, however getting there without the static thrusters is possible.

Mountaineer

In order to unlock this trophy you’ll need to climb to the three tallest buildings in the games. Most of these buildings stick out like a sore thumb but a list of these buildings has been provided below.

  • The Cathedral – This will be on the first island you visit and easy to find as it will be separated from all of the other buildings in the area.
  • The Clocktower – This, like the Cathedral, will be separated from all of the surrounding buildings in the area. You will end up visiting this area regardless however as there is a dead drop located here as well.
  • The Ice Tower – This will be located on the second island you visit and like the other two buildings is separated from all of the other buildings in the area. Oh and it’s covered in ice, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find.

Extreme Makeover

In order to unlock this trophy you will need to destroy verandas or other large objects. These verandas can be found on the first island on the sides of buildings which are normally close to the coast. You can also destroy fuel towers on the second island which are red and white in color.

Watch That First Step

In order to unlock this trophy you’ll need to defeat an enemy by destroying an object that they’re standing on. An easy way to go about doing this is in one of the first missions when you’ll encounter enemies standing on verandas, take out the support beams and watch one of the verandas fall. The trophy should unlock afterwards.

Finish What You Started

In order to unlock this trophy you will need to perform finishers or ultra melee combos. These things will become available to you after the completion of the mission ‘Evolution’ after this you will be able to use these on enemies. Once you have unlocked these abilities you will be able to use them throughout the rest of the game, so this should unlock over simple usage.

Knockout in the Blackout

This is one of the few trophies that can be missed through both playthroughs and it’s best to do this at an early time in the game. First, in order to do this you will need a powered down area, these can be identified on the map as powered down as they will be grayed out. Oh and the game will tell you that it’s a powered down area when you enter into the area. Once you’ve done this you will need to knockout or kill 50 enemies within the area while you are not in any type of mission.

Go Long!

In order to unlock this trophy you will need to have unlocked the kinetic pulse ability that is unlocked after completing the mission ‘Forward Momentum’. Once unlocked you will need to send 50 different objects flying and while I know we’re all civilized people I’m afraid wanton destruction of these items is just something that must be done.

Cole’ Blooded

In order to unlock this trophy you will need to have killed up to 100 civilians, and with negative karma coming naturally with the completion of this trophy it’s recommended that you do this on you negative karma playthrough.

Army of Me

Unlocking this trophy should come naturally over your playthroughs as you will need to knockout or kill up to 300 enemies. Just keep doing side missions and engaging in enemies that you see and you should get this soon.

Hero to the People

In order to unlock this trophy you’ll need to stop 80 crimes from happening. In order to do this you’ll have to stop 4 different types of crimes theft, bombs, abduction, or healing civilians. Crimes are often random and you’ll see these happening as you go about your playthroughs so your best choice is to do them as soon as you see them.It’s also best to do this on your positive karma playthrough as stopping crimes will earn you positive karma.

Nothing Can Bring Me Down

This trophy isn’t very hard to unlock and can be done shortly after scaling to the top of either the cathedral or the ice tower. Simply climb to the top of one of these buildings, jump off, and float to the ground using your static thrusters. If you’ve done this and successfully stayed in the air and moved 130 meters the trophy should unlock.

Return to Sender

In order to unlock this trophy you’ll need to have unlocked the blast ability, which is unlocked in the mission ‘First Glimpse’. After this you’ll need to use this ability against a helicopter shooting rockets at you, which can normally be found throughout story missions.

Vehicular Manslaughter

In order to unlock this trophy you’ll need to have unlocked the ability to throw cars with Kinetic Pulse which is an ability unlocked in the mission ‘Forward Momentum’. After this just go about throwing around cars at enemies, you’ll get it sooner or later.

Take Them For A Spin

In order to unlock this trophy you’ll need to hit 6 different cars with an ionic vortex, which can be unlocked in the mission ‘Storm’s Coming’. Once you’ve unlocked this ability head towards a nearby intersection and stack cars until you’ve collected six and then use Ionic Vortex.

Shock and Awe

In order to unlock this trophy you’ll need to use the ability ‘thunder drop’ into a group of five enemies. This can be easily done in the side mission ‘Masquerade’ where you’ll have to fight citizens posing as statues. Once you’ve gotten there wait until they start attacking, head to a high place, let them gather, and perform ‘Thunder drop’. This will also unlock the trophy ‘Discerning Taste’ as well.

Thunder Flop

This is an easy trophy to unlock later on in the game after the last island is unlocked. Once you’ve unlocked said island head towards the Ice Tower there and head to the top. Once you’ve reached the top simply jump off and perform a thunder drop towards the bottom.

Head Hunter

In order to unlock this trophy you will need to perform three headshots with ‘Precision’ an ability that is unlocked in the mission ‘Good Gets Better’. After the ability is unlocked free roam until you are able to find a group of four militia and approach from the rooftops without being noticed. Once you’ve done this take aim and make sure your shots are well placed. This trophy should unlock shortly afterwards.

Discerning Taste

I’m As Shocked As You Are

This is a fairly easy trophy to unlock, as you will need to kill or knock out an enemy by stepping in a pool of water that they’re standing in. This is best done in the second island as a large portion of enemies can be found near and in water, just step in and make sure Cole doesn’t take too much damage.

Don’t Fence Me In

This is a simple trophy to unlock as all you will need to do is climb over a chain fence. Just find a chain fence and climb over it. Just don’t go blowing up New Marais in the process, unless if you’re on your negative karma playthrough.

Express Elevator

In order to unlock this trophy you will need to ascend 50 vertical launch poles, these poles can be found throughout the game attached to the sides of buildings. Simply go through your game, go up the poles you find and eventually you’ll unlock this trophy.

Heavy Hitter

In order to unlock this trophy you’ll need to use your ionic powers at least 30 times. Just keep using your ionic powers when they become available in a fight and this will eventually unlock.

Matching Set

In order to unlock this trophy you’ll need to perform certain stunts in order to unlock powers for Cole. A list of how to perform these stunts is provided below.

  • Crush – Kill an enemy by crushing them with an object.
  • Sticky Bomb – Kill an enemy by sticking a sticky bomb to them.
  • Highfall – Make an enemy fall to their death. Shockwave is suggested in order to do this.
  • Enviro Take Down – Kill an enemy with an environmental explosion.
  • Melee Finisher – Melee an enemy 5 times.
  • Air Strike – Take down an enemy while you are in mid-air.
  • Blast & Bolt – Kill an enemy while they are in mid-air using lightning bolt.
  • Flying Head Shot – Use Shockwave on an enemy while they are in mid-air afterwards use precision to score a headshot on them.
  • Flying Melee – Kill an enemy with melee while in mid-air.
  • Unquenchable Thirst – Induction grind from one grind to another without touching anything else.
  • Premature Detonation – Kill an enemy by detonating a bomb on a kamikaze.
  • Right back at Ya – Kill an enemy by sending their grenade back at them with Shockwave.
  • Air Sticky Bomb – Shockwave an enemy and then kill them with a sticky bomb.
  • Insult to Injury – Stick an enemy with a grenade then kill them before the grenade detonates.
  • Whack a Mole – Knock down a conduit with lightning bolt and then kill them using thunder drop.
  • Suspended Sentence – Kill in airborne enemy with the thunderstorm ability.
  • Up Close and Personal – Kill five enemies in a row with only melee.
  • Crowd Control – Kill five enemies at once.
  • Splash and Crash – Use Shockwave on an airborne enemy and then attack them with Thunder drop.
  • Have A Nice Fall – Kill three enemies by forcing them off of a rooftop.
  • Ride the Lightning – Kill an enemy with a precision strike while rail grinding.

Level Up

This is a simple trophy and can be unlocked any time you wish. Simply open up UGC mission creator and create a mission with it.

UGC Curious

To unlock this you will need to complete at least 10 UGC missions.

UGC Veteran

To unlock this you will need to complete at least 25 UGC missions.

Trail Blazer

In order to unlock this you will need to add the ‘newest’ filter while searching for new UGC missions, after this you will need to complete at least five UGC missions.

Closed Casket Affair

This is a story based trophy and cannot be missed.

Status Kuo

In order to unlock this trophy you will need to choose Kuo during the mission ‘Storm the Fort’. Doing this will help boost your positive karma so this is best done during your positive karma play-through.

Get Nix’ed

In order to unlock this trophy you will need to choose Nix during the mission ‘Storm the Fort’. Doing this will help boost your negative karma so this is best done during your negative karma play-through.

    I didn’t find this really a hard game to platinum, not like Infamous, since you get the ability to sense the closest blast shard to you making collecting the blast shards really easy. Only really hard trophy I felt was the stunts and even then compared to Infamous they were easier to get done. Still a fun game of course and a good trophy guide.

    Yeah I personally enjoyed the UGC mission editor a lot, since it gave me a lot to do after the storyline was finished. I was also told that Infamous was much harder with the platinum too, so that might be a game that I eventually play. 🙂
