Playstation gamers hoping to play Guerrilla’s upcoming RPGĀ Horizon: Zero Dawn some time this year will have to wait just a little longer. The good news is we have a concrete released date of Feb 28, 2017 as revealed on the Playstation Blog. Initially slated for a release later this year, Guerrilla, who also developed the Killzone franchise, has decided to take some extra time to polish the visuals and gameplay.
Not all was a frown however, as expectant fans were gifted a brand new story trailer. Check it out:
In the game, you take on the role of Aloy, an intrepid hunter living in a world 1000 years after the collapse of human civilization. In this world, robotic creatures are the dominant species and the energy and machinery they harness is key to the survival of Aloyās people. Humanity hasĀ organized back into tribal structures, whose cultures employ a fusion of primitive and advanced technological practices. How and why the machines have emerged to dominate the natural landscape is a mystery that is to be explored and uncovered piece by piece. Check out our preview from last year for a closer look at some of the game’s deeper developmental concepts.
Collector’s Edition
Also revealed today, via Amazon listing is a 120 USD Collector’s Edition which features a 9 inch statue of Aloy, a 48 page artbook and the usual goodie bag of in-game DLC weapons and gear, such as:
- Carja Storm Ranger Armor: Fashioned by the proud, ceremonial Carja tribe, this special armor has been crafted with an eye for showy appearance.
- Carja Striker Bow: The Carja defend their great Sundom with stone fortifications and military might. This finely-made bow, fit for a captain’s hand, puts additional stopping power behind every arrow fired.
- Carja Trader Pack: Rare and precious Machine parts are always in demand on the metal markets of the Carja Sundom.
- Banuk Trailblazer Armor: A sturdy outfit made by the nomadic Banuk tribe, hunters, and shamans from the harsh northern territories.
- Banuk Culling Bow: The Banuk claim a spiritual understanding of the Machines, and put their harvests of Machine parts to many uses.
- Banuk Traveler Pack: Though rarely encountered, Banuk explorers have left their intricate tribal marks across the breadth of the known world.
- Nora Keeper Pack: The Nora are extraordinarily skilled and inventive at using machine components in their own devices.
- Nora Machine Trapper Pack: Even the most experienced Nora hunter never goes into the wild unprepared.

We are expecting to see some more of this game at E3 next week, as it is quickly moving to the top of most anticipated lists. Sony seems to know this, as they’ve put up quite the massive banner in Los Angeles for it this week:

Now that’s advertising! We’ll be on the scene next week at E3, gathering all the first hand info we can and bringing it back to you. Perhaps we’ll be fortunate enough to win that banner (wonder if counts as a checked bag…). Be sure to keep checking back with us for this and more! What do you think? Has Horizon Zero Dawn moved up your list?

I hope this game is even half as good as it looks. Considering they showed game footage last year, I can hope they spent their time wisely to make this as awesome as I’m hoping.
Collector’s edition is pretty amazing looking
This game look so beautiful I can’t wait to play this looks like my type of game robot dinosaurs wow can’t wait to play it I’m Shure it’s gunna be good since it was delayed
im still not sure about HZD…. there were many games that “looked” good but in the end it was just a graphic blender or simply boring after a while (graphic blender aka the order 1886…short time worth while aka the Division)
a game doesnt always have to look bright to be “good” specially in a Long time term….
isnt that something all here in the DARK SOULS Forum should know since DS1 or even DeS is still a god damn masterpiece and playable…even without “new graphics”
but like i said im not so sure about the game in particular right now only Trailers and stuff dont get me warmed up – specially if they come from the Pubs/devs cause sure they want to Show something off and sometimes even “polish” or script them….
If you guys did get to take the poster, would you have a place for it? It’s bigger than my entire apartment!
I’ve been hyped for this game since its announcement. The only gripe I have is it’s coming out a mere 11 days after Persona 5. Going to change my name to “Broke in February”!!
@five
I’m not getting into a console war. In truth, I’m happy that there are options for a variety of gamers. My choice of console is simply personal preference. Just pointing out that I’m pleased with the PS4 exclusives including what I know about Zero Dawn. I loved my 360 too but wanted to play Naughty Dog games and don’t have the time for two consoles. We all make choices (like judging console exclusives that you can’t play in their entirety because you don’t have the console…like Bloodborne). Anyway, I’m glad you enjoy your Xbox.
Looking forward to this game. I was hoping it would come out by the end of this year.

*Cough No Console Wars *Cough
I do have to say I don’t give a shizzle about most of those.
Infamous stopped being good at Carnival of Blood, Uncharted is A-Repetitive as f*ck and B-Replaceable by Tomb Raider, Bloodborne is worse than DkS, no one cares about The Order and Killzone, Salt and Sanctuary is on PC.
I cry myself to sleep at night remembering I will have to just watch the anime rather than play Persona 5 tho.
Atlus pls release P5 for Vita.
The Order, Uncharted, Killzone, The Last of Us, Bloodborne, inFamous, Salt and Sanctuary, and now Zero Dawn. These are the reasons I switched to PlayStation. Say what you will about each game, but no-one can deny the variety of exclusives. For me, nearly all of them are quality exclusives. If past experience is an indicator, Zero Dawn will be great. Whether The Order great our Bloodborne great is my question (I actually loved The Order but understand the complaints).
Guys, goes through all of the work of making a nice article for y’all.
And you don’t even show up to criticize the game and call it a Xenogears rip-off or anything.
I’m disappointed.
This is also totally not my fault as well since I’m on Xbox, I don’t wanna like PS4 exclusives.
Persona 5 already brings me too much suffering.
Why are there no comments???? This game looks soooooooooo good!
