Horizon Zero Dawn Patch 1.30 Adds New Game Plus, Ultra Hard Difficulty, Face Paint & More

A new patch is coming today for PS4 exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn that adds a few new features to the open world Action RPG from Guerrilla GamesĀ and Sony. The highlight of the patch is the much requested New Game Plus.

Horizon Zero Dawn Patch 1.30

In New Game Plus you will be able to continue the game into a new playthrough after beating it a first time and you’ll maintain your character progression and your inventory. You won’t be able to go past the level cap of 50 but you’ll still be able to earn XP.

They have also added some new difficulty options to the game. Now before starting a new game cycle you can adjust the difficulty level as you wish, including selecting the new Ultra Hard difficulty. Ultra Hard enhances machine senses and behavior and will limit health regen and other small tweaks. If you select this difficulty for a playthrough, you will not have an option to switch it to a lower setting.

The New Game Plus mode adds 2 new trophies to the game for completing New Game Plus and completing it in Ultra Hard Mode. These trophies are separate from the Platinum so they are not necessary to complete to earn the coveted trophy, but something tells me completionists aren’t going to let those trophies go unearned regardless. New Game Plus also adds some unlockable content that lets players add facepaint or change Aloy’s Focus. Some updated versions of existing weapons and outfits with extra mod slots have also been added.

Patch Notes

Here are the full patch notes for your perusal:

PATCH 1.30 SUMMARY

  • New game+ added for players who want to play through the game with their existing gear.
  • Ultra Hard mode is added for the players that are up for another challenge!
  • Added two new trophies to the game: One for completing New game+ and one for completing New game+ in ultra-hard mode.
  • Added support for all EU and US text Languages on EU and US games.

GENERAL FIXES

  • Fixed an issue for some players in ā€œThe Looming Shadowā€ where two guards would disappear after Blameless Marad speaks to them.
  • Fixed an issue for certain players with the Lodge Ropecaster where the Ropecasterā€™s anchors that are automatically shot in the ground would not lock into the terrain while shooting from a crouched position.
  • Fixed an issue for some players where bandit camps would incorrectly display as ā€˜Undiscoveredā€™ within the world map if the player had cleared all bandit camps.
  • Fixed an issue with ā€œCauldron Zetaā€ where for some players the quest log would disappear after completing the quest.
  • Fixed an issue that some players encountered with the animations of Aloy. When the player would perform a melee attack and use the Focus almost simultaneously, it would cause Aloyā€™s upper body to twist unnatural for a moment.
  • Fixed an issue with the humanoid scream and attack indicators.
  • Fixed an issue in ā€œDeep Secrets of the Earthā€ where for some players the data points in Sobeckā€™s office were not obtainable if the player wanted to pick them after the explosion caused by Helis, as they had disappeared.
  • Fixed an issue with the Tearblaster statistics being incorrectly displayed in the weapon wheel.

PROGRESSION ISSUE FIXES

  • Fixed an issue in ā€œField of the Fallenā€ where for some players Erend would not appear when the quest objective is ā€˜Talk to Erendā€™ and thus blocking progression of this quest.
  • Fixed an issue in ā€œThe City of the Sunā€ where some players might teleport through the protester scene, blocking progression as Erend would not open the door to Olinā€™s apartment.

CRASH FIXES

  • Fixed miscellaneous crashes.

MISCELLANEOUS FIXES

  • Minor text fixes.

Horizon Zero Dawn keeps dishing out the post launch goodness. For many, New Game Plus was its most glaring omission, and now that it has been added, the conversation can begin anew for game of the year. DLC is also on the way, with The Frozen Wilds announced at E3, which we’ve heard few details about but can anticipate more of the same epic mech hunting in the base game.

  1. That reminds me…

I still need to scrape up enough pennies to buy this game :P

  2. Nooooo they stole my 100%. There is nothing worse than a platinum trophy without a 100% next to it.
