Honkai: Star Rail Dan Heng Build Guide

Honkai: Star Rail Dan Heng Build Guide – In this Honkai: Star Rail Dan Heng Build Guide, I’m going to share my Dan Heng Build to obliterate enemies unapologetically. I’ll be discussing the Stats and Skills you should pay attention to, the Light Cones and Relics to strive for, and the Companions to pick in order to highlight Dan Heng’s capabilities as a damage dealer. If you want to play as a main DPS who lands crits and inflicts huge Wind Damage against Slowed targets, then this Level 40 Dan Heng Build Guide is for you!

Honkai: Star Rail Dan Heng Build Guide

Dan Heng is a reliable, free-to-play 4-star character who thrives in dealing Wind Damage, especially when his targets are inflicted with Slowed and the Wind Shear effect. As long as he receives buffs or heals from allies, he can execute additional deadly moves since their Wind Resistance will be reduced.

Honkai Star Rail Dan Heng in Combat

To make Dan Heng successful as a main DPS, you’ll need a Nihility Path character who can hold his ground by slowing down enemies and controlling their actions. No better person is able to do this than Welt himself. By Imprisoning them, they end up missing their turn and getting pushed down the Action Order. Other than him, you’ll want Natasha and either Tingyun or Asta in Dan Heng’s team with the intention of healing and buffing everyone’s damage.

Honkai: Star Rail Dan Heng Build Guide – Stats And Eidolons

In this Honkai: Star Rail Dan Heng Build, Dan Heng follows the Hunt Path similar to Seele and Sushang but the difference is he’s a free-to-play character. As such, he’s a great asset to have during the early game, especially when you’re not as lucky in your pulls as you’d want to be. His forte relies on slowing one target at a time and then going in for the kill with his crits. Because of this, you’ll want to prioritize investing in Crit Rate, Crit Damage, and Attack.

Honkai Star Rail Dan Heng Build Guide

Increasing these main stats should considerably improve his abilities, and consequently, the overall damage he deals, may it be burst or Wind damage over time (DoT). Since his Wind Damage scales with Attack, you’ll want to keep raising this stat every chance you get.

For substats, you’ll continue to increase Dan Heng’s Crit and Attack, followed by Speed and Break Effect. These are common upgrades like in Hook and Sushang’s Builds. Boosting Speed allows Dan Heng to not only attack first in combat but also to act more frequently in addition to helping charge his Utimate faster. And every time he executes an ability, there’s a chance to inflict the Wind Shear effect, which deals Wind DoT. On the other hand, Break Effect refers to the persistent effectiveness of his Wind Damage and DoT even after the enemy’s Toughness has been reduced to 0. When this happens, he’s more likely to destroy them quickly.

In terms of Dan Heng’s Eidolons, getting 4 more duplicates of him would be enough to significantly improve his DPS capabilities. The first Eidolon you should pay attention to is Roaring Dragon and Soaring Sun, which is unlocked at Level 4. This allows Dan Heng to immediately activate “Advanced Forward” every time he defeats an enemy with his Ultimate Ability. This makes it so that he’ll get an extra turn like Seele since he’ll instantaneously move up the Action Order.

Roaring Dragon and Soaring Sun Eidolon at Level 4

Next would be Quell the Venom Octet, Quench the Vice O’Flame at Level 2. This Eidolon allows Dan Heng to consistently boost his Wind Resistance Penetration in order to deal greater damage since it’ll take effect after every turn instead of waiting for 2 turns. In order to proc Quell the Venom Octet, Quench the Vice O’Flame, he needs to be the target of Natasha’s heals or Tingyun’s Attack buff, for example. This is huge considering that you’ll want to push Dan Heng’s DPS potential to eliminate enemies as efficiently as possible.

And finally, there’s The Higher You Fly, the Harder You Fall that you unlock at Level 1. Even at a lower level, this Eidolon is already potent. Should the target’s HP % be greater than or equal to 50%, Dan Heng’s Crit Rate will be instantly buffed, thereby making it likely to successfully land crits.

Honkai: Star Rail Dan Heng Build Guide – Skills And Traces

In this section, we’ll talk about Dan Heng’s Skills and Traces together with what you should prioritize in combat.

  • Superiority of Reach (Talent) – This passive encourages Dan Heng’s teammates to continually buff his abilities or heal him. As long as he becomes a target of an ally’s skill, his Wind Resistance Penetration will be improved. Superiority of Reach allows him to ignore a portion of the enemy’s resistance so that he can deal greater Wind Damage. Since we’re already talking about damage dealing, remember to unlock every ATK Boost and DMG Boost: Wind Trace
  • Splitting Spearhead (Technique) – This enhance technique is a self-buff, which increases his Attack by +40% for 3 turns once combat has started. Splitting Spearhead can be combined with an ally’s active technique, particularly the one who can initiate an encounter to deal Weakness Break or to incapacitate targets right from the very beginning.
Splitting Spearhead (Technique)
  • Cloudlancer Art: North Wind (Basic ATK) – This regular attack doesn’t seem special at first since it’s the usual Wind Damage against a single enemy. To enhance Dan Heng’s Cloudlancer Art: North Wind, you’ll need to gain access to the High Gale Ability at Character Ascension 6. Doing so will let him deal significant damage against Slowed targets, and this Basic Attack doesn’t even cost a skill point, making it a worthy ability later on.
  • Cloudlancer Art: Torrent (Skill) – This is an incredible skill because, on top of dealing massive Wind Damage, the target’s Speed can potentially be reduced for 2 turns as long as he lands a crit. Cloudlancer Art: Torrent is a great prerequisite to his Ultimate Ability, which I’ll be discussing next.
Cloudlancer Art Torrent (Skill)
  • Ethereal Dream (Ultimate) – This ultimate allows Dan Heng to deal almost double the Wind Damage of his Skill. What’s more, is that the corresponding damage multiplier increases further if he attacks a Slowed target. Because of this, you’ll want another teammate who can equally inflict Slow to raise Dan Heng’s damage.

For the rest of his Traces, it’ll still be beneficial to gain access to the DEF Boost, Hidden Dragon Ability, and Faster Than Light Ability. DEF Boost synergizes well with Hidden Dragon such that they both pertain to improving Dan Heng’s survivability by raising his defenses and lowering the chances of getting attacked, respectively. It’s worth noting that the latter effect will only happen if his HP % is less than or equal to 50%. Next is Faster Than Light, which gives him a 50% chance to buff his own Speed every time he makes use of his Basic Attack, Skill, or Ultimate. This is something Dan Heng constantly needs in order to consistently deal frequent damage.

Faster than Light Bonus Ability

Honkai: Star Rail Dan Heng Build Guide – Light Cones

When it comes to Light Cones, the ones you’ll want to chase after for Dan Heng’s kit are Arrows, Only Silence Remains, and In the Night. Arrows is a 3-star Light Cone, which raises his Crit Rate for 3 turns once the encounter starts. It’s a reliable weapon during the early game but you’ll want to keep it only until you manage to pull Only Silence Remains from the Warp. You can ascend Arrows to as much as Level 30.

Meanwhile, Only Silence Remains is a decent 4-star Light Cone that’s advantageous against fewer enemies. By default, it increases Dan Heng’s Attack but should he face 1 or 2 targets, his Crit Rate automatically shoots up as well. So you can opt to kill extra mobs first to proc Only Silence Remains’ Crit Rate effect once there are only a couple of creatures left behind on the battlefield.

And lastly, the best 5-star Light Cone, which you’ll want to ultimately get is In the Night. In the Night has a lot of benefits. For starters, Dan Heng’s Crit Rate will be enhanced without any associated condition. Next, having a high Speed Stat will significantly boost his Wind Damage when triggering the Cloudlancer Art: North Wind Basic Attack or the Cloudlancer Art: Torrent Skill. Should he activate the Ethereal Dream Ultimate instead, his Crit Damage will go up. Remember that these damage buffs can stack up to 6x, which is massive and substantial against more difficult encounters like in the higher levels of the Simulated Universe and Forgotten Hall.

Honkai: Star Rail Dan Heng Build Guide – Relics

In terms of Relics, it’s important to remember that for the Head and Hands, your character gets a flat HP and Attack bonus, respectively. This isn’t the case for the Body and Feet, which are comprised of random stats such as Crit and Break Effect %. Ideally, you’d want to equip 4-star Relics since they provide 2-3 substats in addition to their main stat. But remember that regardless of the rating, enhancing them for every 3 levels will yield a random substat. For a Level 40 Dan Heng, it’s enough to level up his Relics to a maximum of +6 for 4-star gear until you get their 5-star versions to reserve enough resources by then.

For Dan Heng’s Relics, you’ll only need to acquire and wear one 4-piece set, namely the Eagle of Twilight Line. It not only increases his Wind Damage but also triggers “Advanced Forward” after he uses the Ethereal Dream Ultimate. The effect of this set isn’t as powerful as the Roaring Dragon and Soaring Sun Eidolon, which grants a 100% chance to Advance Forward but it’s decent enough to potentially gain an extra turn in combat.

Eagle of Twilight Line Set

You can farm the Eagle of Twilight Line Set from the Cavern of Corrosion: Path of Gelid Wind. For the Eagle’s Winged Suit Harness and Quilted Puttees, you’ll want to roll for Crit and Attack, followed by Speed and Break Effect.

Team Composition

In Honkai: Star Rail, you’ll have all four characters available while combat is ongoing so you won’t be swapping from one to the next. There also won’t be elemental pools left behind. Instead, you’ll focus on the enemy’s weaknesses to deplete their Toughness and HP accordingly. For this Dan Heng Guide, I’ll be sharing the best characters to go with him and how effective their skills are for this build.

Team Composition for Dan Heng

Since Dan Heng will be taking on the main DPS role, you’ll want to include a secondary or sub DPS who also excels in inflicting debuffs. The best Nihility Path character who can accompany him is none other than Welt. Welt not only slows down targets but also traps them with Imprisonment using the Gravitational Imprisonment Technique. As such, they become immobilized, often losing their turns in combat. Once Slowed, he and Dan Heng can deal considerable Imaginary and Wind Damage, respectively.

Next, you need to consider who the best support character is to make sure that the team persists and survives. Here, I recommend choosing Natasha of the Abundance Path who has the ability to heal all allies with one press of a button by using her Gift of Rebirth Ultimate. Because of this, she tends to be very reliable, especially when things start going sideways.

Lastly, you’re going to want a buffer in the form of Tingyun or Asta who both follow the Harmony Path. Tingyun is adept at boosting her target’s Attack and damage as well as restoring a huge chunk of their Energy with her Amidst the Rejoicing Clouds Ultimate. Meanwhile, Asta can also enhance the Attack Stat but she’s more skilled at improving everyone’s Speed.

Final Tips

Dan Heng is a decent 4-star character who slows down targets to deal massive Wind Damage. If you don’t manage to pull Seele just yet, you can rely on him to dish out strong moves to kill one enemy after the next in quick succession. For skill rotation, you’ll want to start with the Cloudlancer Art: Torrent Skill to increase the chances of inflicting Slow with Welt. Once accomplished, Dan Heng should trigger the Ethereal Dream Ultimate or Cloudlancer Art: North Wind Basic ATK with the Ultimate taking priority. The Basic Attack will only be significantly improved when he reaches Character Ascension 6.

Dan Heng Ethereal Dream Ultimate Ability

A great alternative to the Only Silence Remains Light Cone is the Cruising in the Stellar Sea, which you can buy from Herta’s Store for 8 Herta Bonds. This 5-star Light Cone doubles Dan Heng’s Crit Rate when he’s facing a target whose HP is less than or equal to 50%. The moment he slays them, his Attack increases, allowing him to deal far more damage against his next foes since the respective effect is valid for 2 turns.

When it comes to Planetary Ornaments, remember to choose the Celestial Differentiator. This should enhance Dan Heng’s Crit Damage and Crit Rate for the better, thereby letting him kill targets much more efficiently.
