Silksong has been updated on Steam, and fans of the series are once again dreaming about the release of the long-awaited sequel. As usual, any small news about the much-anticipated follow-up to Hollow Knight sparks excitement. Recently, some players believe they’ve seen a glimmer of hope for possible news due to one simple detail: activity in Steam’s database.

Could We Hear News About Silksong Soon?

The Reddit community noticed on SteamDB that Silksong had been updated, which is common for any game in development with internal testing. However, this was enough for users to joke—or perhaps not—about an imminent announcement, and even a surprise release in the coming days.

The SteamDB page has been updated again (could be automated). The last time the SubID “342710” was last updated was 5 years ago.

Silksong was originally planned as downloadable content for Hollow Knight, but the project expanded into a full-fledged sequel. Team Cherry announced the game in early 2019.

Not much more has been revealed over the years. In 2022, co-director William Pellen reassured fans that Silksong was still in development and that more details would be shared when its release was near. That year, its debut on Xbox Game Pass was confirmed, which led many to expect an update or release date at the Xbox Partner Preview event held last week.

The event passed without any news of Silksong, and now the next date that could bring surprises is The Game Awards 2024, taking place in December. What is certain is that the game shouldn’t be too far off: it was originally slated for the first half of 2023, but was delayed again without further explanation.
