Hogwarts Legacy Smashes Twitch Viewership Record for a Single-Player Game

One of the biggest launches this year has been dominating Twitch views. Hogwarts Legacy was released this week for those who pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition, gaining 72 hours of early access. It has been doing the rounds on the online streaming platform breaking new viewership records with a peak of 1.2 million for a single-player game. This has now pushed past previous record highs such as Elden Ring which stands at an all-time peak of 908,687 viewers according to SteamDB.

Full Steam Ahead

Steam is also reflecting the successful early access launch numbers. While the game doesn’t officially release until February 10th, Deluxe Edition players and above gained 72 hours early access for pre-ordering. Hogwarts Legacy remains in the top spot for the top currently global selling game on Steam. The all-time peak of concurrent players reached 489,139 players making it the second-highest single-player game. Cyberpunk 2077 is still number one for this. While Elden Ring dominated the figures upon its release, its multiplayer content sets it apart from this category.

While successful in this single-player category, multiplayer games still dominated the sphere when it comes to Twitch numbers and Steam. Games such as CS: GO and PUBG still have higher numbers compared to the wand-waving open-world RPG. The game has continued to storm the Steam charts, even prior to its early access release being the most wishlisted game even now.

Early Access & Twitch

Part of the large number of views is also helped by its early access streams and of course, Twitch drops. The Twitch drop campaign gives players in-game cosmetic items that Hogwarts fans are eager to get their hands on. Even if you aren’t playing the game until its global release on February 10th, you can still earn these drops and connect your accounts.
