H1Z1 Battle Royale Beta Comes to PlayStation 4 as a Free-to-Play Title

The battle royale game you could say that started it all H1Z1, is coming to PlayStation 4 in a form of a free-to-play beta on May 22, 2018.

H1Z1 Beta Comes to PlayStation 4 as a Free-to-Play Title

Daybreak games announced that they will be bringing the battle royale game H1Z1 to a new platform this May, PlayStation 4 and will be available as a free-to-play title. The closed beta will be held on the weekend of May 22nd and players can sign up via the official H1Z1 website.

Those who wish to pre-order the game will be rewarded with in-game cosmetics and a dynamic theme for PS4 upon purchase. Pre-orders are $29.99 and PlayStation Plus members will receive a 20 percent discount.

H1Z1 on PS4 is true battle royale mayhem. We have reimagined the game for PlayStation 4 and have designed it to accentuate the essentials of battle royale that make the genre so exciting to watch and play. We have added key gameplay differentiators to keep the game frantic and fun — an action shooter’s dream of fast-paced battle royale.

Take a look at the Playstation 4 trailer below featuring the closed beta:

Whether H1Z1 will do well as it’s competitor Fornite who has already been on PS4 platform for some time now as a free game, will be uncertain as Fornite continues to dominate the scene and other battle royale games enter the genre.

free to play and $29.99? bit confusing

The beta is free to play, but the bundle will be $29.99. Sorry for the confusion, hope that clear things up.

Buy the game, then play. No monthly subscription.

I don’t think this will cut into the Fortnite / PUBG crowd, though.
