Daybreak games announced that they will be bringing the battle royale game H1Z1 to a new platform this May, PlayStation 4 and will be available as a free-to-play title. The closed beta will be held on the weekend of May 22nd and players can sign up via the official H1Z1 website.

H1Z1 on PS4 is true battle royale mayhem. We have reimagined the game for PlayStation 4 and have designed it to accentuate the essentials of battle royale that make the genre so exciting to watch and play. We have added key gameplay differentiators to keep the game frantic and fun — an action shooter’s dream of fast-paced battle royale.

Whether H1Z1 will do well as it’s competitor Fornite who has already been on PS4 platform for some time now as a free game, will be uncertain as Fornite continues to dominate the scene and other battle royale games enter the genre.

  1. Buy the game, then play. No monthly subscription.

I don’t think this will cut into the Fortnite / PUBG crowd, though.

  2. The beta is free to play, but the bundle will be $29.99. Sorry for the confusion, hope that clear things up.
