God of War’s Prequel Comic Gets a Sneak Peek Before Release

Ahead of its release next week, the God of War comic is a prequel giving fans of Norse mythology and of course Kratos more of the story. The writer from Dark Horse Chris Roberson shares on the Playstation Blog his inspiration from Norse mythology and the process when it came to the comic.

He explains his apprehension when it came to taking on such a project with a huge following:

But at the same time, I was intimidated to be tackling such a recognizable and well-established character and to be contributing to a franchise with such an enormous scope and backstory.

He goes on to talk about how the story was structured, his involvement when it came to making sure the prequel made sense to the timeline:

I had the basic outline of the plot worked out in the course of my first conversation with Spencer Cushing at Dark Horse, who was the one who originally approached me about the project, but it took some time to work out if it made sense in terms of the continuity of the new game.

The description of the comic by Dark Horse:

Kratos, God of War, has returned! His war on the gods of Olympus long past, Kratos builds a new life for himself in the remote Norse wilds. Seeking to put the rage that defined most of his life behind him, Kratos inadvertently sparks a feud with a mysterious cult of berserkers after attempting to save a stranger being mauled by a monstrous bear. But for the former Ghost of Sparta, no good deed goes unpunished.
