God of War Ragnarok Delayed To 2022; Also Confirmed for Release on PS4

God War Ragnarok has been announced to be releasing next year instead of this year.

Developer Sony Santa Monica Studio has announced God of War Ragnarok which was expected to release on PS5 in 2021 has now been delayed to next year. The studio has also confirmed now that the title will also now release on PS4.

The news was released on Twitter, as Sony explained it made the decision to push the God of War back to 2022 as to to maintain the “safety and wellbeing” of its team.

In the “Since the release of the next God of War teaser last year,” the full statement reads, “we’ve been humbled by the amount of love our community has show us. We’re incredibly grateful so see so many people excited to experience the next chapter of Kratos and Atreus’ journey”. they shared “Since the release of the next God of War teaser last year. we’ve been humbled by the amount of love our community has show us. Along with this news Sony has confirmed the cross-gen title God of War: Ragnarok along with the PS5 racing sim Gran Turismo 7 will be coming to Playstation 4 as well as PS5.

Head of Playstation Studios Hermen Hulst shared in an interview with the Playstation Blog “Where it makes sense to develop a title for both PS4 and PS5 – for Horizon Forbidden West, the next God of War, GT7 – we’ll continue looking at that. And if PS4 owners want to play that game, then they can. If they want to go on and play the PS5 version, that game will be there for them.”

As for the release date of the highly anticipated sequel Horizon Forbidden West it could also end up being delayed but for now seems to be “on track to release this holiday season. But that isn’t quite certain yet…”

God of War: Ragnarok will now release for PS4 and PS5 in 2022.
