Genshin Impact Patch 3.4 Arrives on January 18
The highly anticipated Genshin Impact 3.4 update is just around the corner, releasing on January 18th.
This update’s highlights include two new characters, a new area, new enemies (and a boss), and the return of the Lantern Rite Festival.
The Cast of Characters
New Faces
In keeping true to Patch 3.0’s intense Dendro content are two more characters of the said element. Joining Collei, Tighnari, and others are Alhaitham and Yaoyao in Genshin Impact’s Patch 3.4.

Alhaitham is the next 5-Star Dendro character and is primarily a quick DPS class. He attacks with twin blades that he can enhance with Chisel-Light Mirrors. These floating wisps of energy greatly buff Alhaitham’s damage, as normal attacks will release jagged forms of cutting Dendro energy. His Elemental Burst will also make use of these Light Mirrors, greatly increasing his overall Dendro Damage.

Yaoyao on the other hand uses her tiny spear with great efficiency. This little character’s gimmick is that she makes use of cute bunnies in combat. These critters are far from harmless, as they can help contribute tons of Dendro-based damage to Yaoyao’s foes.
Familiar Friends
Genshin Impact’s Patch 3.4 will also re-introduce some familiar faces from previous chapters. This time around, Hu Tao, Yelan, and Xiao will be coming back in the banners, but it isn’t clear quite yet as to the time that they will specifically become available. Each major patch has three banner phases usually.

Speaking of older characters, we will get some new alternative outfits just like last year’s Genshin Impact 2.4 Update. Both Lisa and Kamisato Ayaka will get new costumes. Unfortunately’ only Lisa’s will be available for free via the “Second Bloom” event, and Ayaka’s will be purchasable via the in-game store.
New Events
Coming in Genshin Impact’s 3.4 Patch are a few new events and the return of the Lantern Festival. The Lantern Rite, as with previous years, will focus on bonding with existing characters as they try to make the best of the joyous event.

In terms of new things, we will have the “Warrior’s Spirit” and “Almighty Arataki Extraordinary and Exhilarating Extreme Beetle Brawl” events. The former event will be purely combat where the player needs to duel a powerful NPC 1:1.
On the other hand, the Beetle Brawl is exactly that: a fight between two bugs. This Beetle Brawl looks like a simplified version of Tekken, where two Beetles face off against each other in a 2D sidescrolling plane. Only one can be the very best!
Even More Cards!
Last, but not least, is an update to December’s highlight, the Genius Invokation TCG minigame. Introduced in patch 3.3 was a collectible card game that had Travelers explore the region and battle with their favorite NPCs. In the upcoming Genshin Impact Patch 3.4, we will have access to a limited “Heated Battle Mode”. This will enable a special ruleset that lets players duke it out instantly instead of going through the Elemental Dice Roll phase each turn.

We will also get two new cards: Klee and Beidou. The former teases “explosive surprises” when drawing cards, while the master merchant’s card looks to be related to Mona in some way.
New Weapons and Areas
Travelers will also get to set foot in the arid Desert of Hadramaveth. This desert seems to be even more unforgiving compared to the already existing areas of Sumeru. An imposing tornado of sand sits forever over the horizon, guarding some secrets of old.

While the central landscape will be tons of different shades of brown, the underground areas will pose as a refuge from the elements as well as the monochromatic ground. Under the desert sands lie extensive cave systems, ancient ruins, and even entire biomes of flora and fauna, ripe for exploration.

Those who dig deep enough may even come across the new Genshin Impact boss, Setekh Wenut. This serpent burrows itself through the sand, waiting for the perfect opportunity to wreak havoc on any unsuspecting adventurer.
