The developer of Dark Souls has apparently two games in the works but has yet to reveal what they are.
FromSoftware are Working on 2 Unannounced Games
While it isn’t the time to discuss details, they’re both [From Software]-esque games,” Miyazaki said. “We’ll need a little more time, but we’ll be able to tell everyone more about them once they take shape.
With From gearing up with their release of Sekiro in March, they have not shared any details on what their time frame for future games or the titles that they are working on. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is the latest entry from the developer, focusing on an action-adventure game that strays away from the their usual souls game formula.
Miyazaki also made a comment about the recent Bloodborne Easter Egg found in their VR title Déraciné. While speculation was at an all time high of a Bloodborne sequel, Miyazaki says it was simply there because “I, as well as several staffs, like the title Bloodborne…” and calls it “pure mischief“. While this might put a damper on a possible Bloodborne 2, there might still be some hope in future if this not one of the current titles in production.
The Clues we have from the past years
By no means are we going to stray ourselves away from the more or less more mainstream games that we’re known for,” Miyazaki continues resiliently, in the dark. “I think this segue will only give us good learnings, good experiences, and that’s something that we can reflect on and will have a good influence on the other games that we’d work on in the future. It’s been really good learning experience.
Demon’s Souls Servers closed Down simultaneously, making people wonder if a remaster was in the works.
FromSoftware was hiring for a Dark Fantasy position in 2017.
We know, from interviews with Miyazaki, that one of the three confirmed titles From Software is working on is a “Dark Fantasy” RPG. Miyazaki also stated:
The second thing is that one of the new titles I’ve been working on will probably comply with the expectations from the fans in straightforward manner.
From an interview with IGN
Now this could mean a new game, or a remaster…however, we have found proof that From is likely hiring for a “Console, Dark Fantasy, Realistic” “Creature” and “Background” temporary designer. If the title was a remaster, new creature and character design would be unlikely!
The fact the position is temporary means that whatever is being developed is exceeding the permanent staff of the studio, and the fact it’s an artistic position suggests the project is in advanced stages of production, with conceptualization and the engine having been largely completed, and the dress-up part of the game now being worked on.
What do you think the titles that they are working on could be? Let us know in the comments below.
