Has anyone considered that like Dragonriders in DS2, Dragonslayers could very well be an elite group of knights? And that Ornstein may have been their number 1 and also a captain to Gwyn's forces, but was not the only dragonslayer in the land? Which would mean that other individuals could achieve the rank and armor of dragonslayer as well.

I was going to say, yeah. It's possible there's just more than one dragonslayer, and that Ornstein's armor and weapon are just standard-issue equipment. What's more, the Dragonslayer Armor in DaS3 is also corrupted by the dark, being weak to anti-abyss weapons and fire, and resistant to dark, even though his weapon has lightning properties.

Perfect example: All the dudes running around with Havel's armor, shield, tooth, and ring. It isn't Havel in several different places, it's his followers wearing gear just like his as the ring says.

Dark attacks doe.

And Dragon's Tooth's description is:
"Created from an everlasting dragon tooth that will never break.

Left by Havel himself, along with his boulder-like great shield. Grants its wielder resistance to magic and fire."

Havel himself. Weapon's his, not his knights'.

ALSO WHAT SORT OF FOUL NECROPOSTING IS THIS?

My theory is that, for some bosses (like Ornstein), their death animation is purely cosmetic for the game, and that they were just defeated.
