Hey there,

I'm completely new to the game and I have a question.

I downloaded the character respecialization mod, because I always spend my points in RPG like crap and I really love to be able to play around with all kinds of builds until I find what I like..

Anyway, here's the thing. When I respecialize with the mod (drink the respec potion from the crow) I also get my class spec's reset (like blood mage), which is completely fine, because I can just click on it again and have it, however this does not work when I respecialize with the other characters. They don't seem to have the point reset, it simply dissapears and I cannot specialize them (for example Allistair can no longer be a templar)...

Did I just **** it up or is there a way for me (my mage character) to unlock specializations like templar for characters like Allistair?

Thanks guys :)

Yes, for some specs, Templar included, you can buy books to add the spec. You can then reload a save and get your money back, since once you have it, its there for all games.

The other way is to get your relationships up with your companions so that you can ask them to teach you their spec.

You can buy two specs in camp iirc, templar included.

Some, like Morrigan, will only teach you their spec if you are the same class.

Some specs are rewards from quests.

But I'm not a warrior, I'm a mage, they can't teach me this spec.

Do all the spec's have books which I can buy? Can I unlock (with my mage character) all of the class spec's in the game, so I could pick whatever spec I want with my other characters after I used the respecialization potion on them?

You can still be taught the spec, even if you aren't the quivalent class. They'll just teach you 'so you can give pointers to someone else', for example. The only class you can only unlock as one class is Blood Mage, which you have to be a mage to unlock. You can only use specialisations for your class, but you can unlock them with any (sans BM).

I read somewhere that your NPC specializations, like Alistair's Templar can't be recovered because you never actually specialized them. Alistar is a Templar by default, as Morrigan is a Shapeshifter and Leliana a Bard. So if you respecialize them, you may lost the specialization point you win later on the game just to recover their original specialization. Altough i don't know, maybe in later versions of the mod you'll be able to recover them when doing the respecialization.

The most recent version of character respecialization mod is 1.6 from Nov 2009 and it has this bug.

I restored templar specialization for Alistar and bard for Leliana by improving their attitude towards me with gifts, then talking and unlocking dialogue about learning their specialization. It allows any character, including them to use this specialization (assuming correct class of course).
