Confirmed. At first, I thought Larian pruned it in the live game, but it is still available!

What about Empowered Spell? That's in the PHB as a core metamagic option for Sorcerer. Why is it not in the game? Too hard to implement?

In case someone still has not figured this out, "Empowered Spell" (as something equivalent to a Metamagic feat) has been automatically offered to all spellcasters in this game for free. For example, you can empower a level 2 scorching ray spell to level 6, and by you so doing, it will shoot like a firework show.

That’s called “up casting” bro, which typically adds more damage dice. Heightened Spell lets you reroll damage dice to for a better outcome.

Distant, Quickened, and Subtle will work with Eldritch Blast. Twinned will initially work, but stops when you hit level 5 and EB upgrades to fire two beams, breaking the prereqs for twinned.

I too also wish Empowered Metamagic had been brought over from the pen and paper setting. It was one of the classic metamagics that made sure you just got more damage out of spells. Good for making fireball hit like a mack truck.

"Empowered Spell" (as the equivalent of a feat) is automatically offered to all spellcasting classes in BG3 for free, just in case you still haven't noticed that. You can empower every (are there exceptions?) spell in this game of level 5 or lower to a higher level up to 6. You do not need to take any feat in order to do that. It's automatic. It's free. And it's more flexible, as you can do so even if the net result of the spell casting is the same (in this case, you are just using a higher level spell slot to cast a lower level spell for the same result).

bruh... that's not what Empower does. are you one of those people that just thinks they know everything, so whatever erroneous understanding of something pops into your head, you start condescending to people as though your incorrect conclusions were obvious?

the Empower metamagic lets you reroll a number of the damage dice on your spell for a spell point. that options isn't available to any casters. you're talking about upcasting.

Wish it had transmuted spell to change firebolt into a lightning bolt, making it synergize with Storm Sorcery

I mean that's fair and all but if you're going to metamagic a cantrip anyway, why not just use distant spell on Shocking Grasp? Sure it's half the range of Firebolt, but it also disables reactions and might have auto-advantage, and if an enemy (or even two) gets into melee range of you you can still cast it with no disadvantage, and then safely walk away.

By the way, since Shocking Grasp makes enemies unable to react, you can distant cast a shocking grasp on an enemy mage, followed by a powerful quickened spell. The enemy mage won't be able to counterspell you, as they can't react.
