It's definitely poorly written. I don't mind that she leaves the player, but I hate how you can't tell her that you only did it to save her. Especially since Shabriri lays it out plainly and there's also the note in the tent that says you don't have to commit to the frenzied flame. It seems like an afterthought, tacked on just so you can't have a "good" ending.

The thing is that by speaking to Melina you learn that her purpose is to burn the Erdtree. By doing it yourself you rob her of her purpose, as well as becoming a significantly eviler person after accepting the frenzied flame. Even if you cleanse it, you still betrayed her in preventing her from completing her duty.

Best ending by far IMO, the cutscene is just bonkers. The changes it makes on the Lands Between make me want that to be a whole other game or whole other DLC area.

I love cutscene to this npc as well, in fact i think it couldnt be done any better, it makes me think how all cutscenes in this game are so good( the only think i dislike is a few seconds in cutscene to the second phase of renalla when in one moment you look at her from the fp, reminded me of doom, xd, must say it would be better in third person and much more *soulslike*)

when you go back to the room any time after accepting the flame, the fingers aren't there. in the cutscene where you accept the flame, you can see the fingers going inside your body
