Because it's a sword dropped by a necromancer, were you expecting the guy that fights with his ghost canoe to drop stuff for a pure strength build?

23 Mar anon. Considering the mother****er doesn't even use a sword, yes. Yes I do expect it.

This weapon should scale in Faith instead of Int
By Anonymous
#16526621
I think it should scale with both so it has a decent niche for death spells at the very least

Too bad it doesn't scall in Faith, would have great synergy with Dark magic

At 60 int, 28 str, and 11 dex, it's stats are 775 at +9, compared to 774 with the +9 moon greatsword. Note that the heavy of the moon does about 200 more damage per hit because of thr special. Still, this is a fantastic GS.

If only they made a single good greatsword that isn't for int or faith builds.

Works like the Onyx Blade from DS3 and the Weapon Art adds 50 Magic Damage and an unknown amount of Frost buildup. It's a pretty cool sword but unfortunately is edged out every so slightly by the Darkmoon Greatsword. With optimal stats at +10, it will slightly outdamage it and has frost buildup by default and gains more through the weapon art. This doesn't even mention the heavy attack projectile. The builds are too similar as well, which makes the situation even worse.

However, Helphen's Steeple's weapon art works just like an attack and can easily be woven into your exisiting attack strings. It's also arguably faster to use since Darkmoon's has a long wind-up and doesn't do anything right away. So it's probably more martially-adapt than the DMB, but not nearly as versatile.

The INT/FTH requirements of death-themed spells in Elden Ring are quite unique. I haven't build around them yet (so I can't say whether they actually suck *** LOL), but this weapon not scaling off of INT and FTH as well seems like a missed opportunity. Especially since Darkmoon Blade exists and is highly similar to this weapon.

Darkmoon greatsword does not gain further increase to frostbite build up through its buff

It's a pretty good option for dual wielding with the Darkmoon Greatsword, you could even have both of the ashes of war active at the same time, if you have this one on your left hand an Darkmoon Greatsword on the right one.

I'm trying to make a strength/ int ghostflame build using the helphen steeple and the death poker using only ghostflame spells. Do you have any advice on how to go about building it?

Looks like the ability causes frostbite. Causes cold mist to radiate off the target after a few hits with a burst of dmg.
