His motive to kill us are still kind of a mystery to me…he says himself that a tarnished can never become Elden Lord…What I think he means when he says “I know it in my bones a tarnished can never be Elden lord” that we must not let a tarnished become Elden lord. Maybe he knows something we don’t and becoming Elden Lord as a tarnished has diabolical effects that we are not yet aware of still.

Gideon knows the current situation is intended by Marika and he doesn't want a new order.

I think what he loves the most is learning all the time. The whole "stand before the elden ring" shebang is just a backdrop that gives meaning to his hobby. The way he had rationalized it, I'd think, would be: "it is impossible to change the world, but it would be possible if I knew absolutely everything, so I should learn everything there is". But then some rando comes up to the tree and is like "yo me finna be elden lord now", destroying Gideon's meaning in life, or rather the justification for the only pursuit that gives him meaning in life. His "I know it in my bones" quote is a clever allusion to how he has no empirical info that tarnished cannot be lord; he just wants it to be true so that he can keep reading books and feeling meaningful.

Marika is utterly insane by the time the game takes place. Both Hewg and Gideon are scared **** of her. You have to remeber that you won't be the god of the new order, Marika will be. A grieving mother so distraught over the death of her favorite child that she shattered the laws of the physical world.

I think it's because he's wrapped up in the "eternal" mindset of Marika. Hewg is supposed to be cursed forever because killing a god should be impossible. The fire giant is supposed to be cursed forever because no-one should actually be looking for the flame. Maliketh will be hungry forever whether or not he success in finding all the deathroot. And thus, when Marika tells Gideon and the Tarnished to TRY and become elden lord, Gideon believes that means you should never actually finish, just like his quest for knowledge.

For most of my first play through my 11 year old son thought the intro said "Sir Gideon Ofnir, THEY ALL KNOW HIM!"...which I think is actually better.

Gideon thinks he can outsmart me. Maybe, maybe. I've yet to see him outsmart stabbing.

You a college boy or something? I bet you think you're pretty smart? Think you could outsmart a bullet? What do you say we find out?

Not sure what the trigger for 'Unlocated Demigods' Convo is but it's not killing Morgott, or at least it has other possible conditions.

I got it the first time I went back and talked to him after finishing Ranni's quest line. But I hadn't talked to him in a while. Maybe it happens after getting your third rune? I'd also reached Leyndell but didn't fight any bosses past the Tree Sentinel.

Not the first Morgott. You fight him again in Leyndell. It's after that fight that he gives this bit of dialog.

I received his updated dialogue before the morgott fight where the thrones are too. At the time I had been to the fortified mansion in the capital, and I'd been to Gelmir.

Accessing the shortcut to Leyndell from Deeproot Depths without entering Altus Plateau via the Grand Lift or the cavern will also trigger the Unlocated Demigods dialogue even though Morgott isn't dead yet.

I'm so mad that we had to fight this fella, he was probably the all-coolest guy in the lands between.

I blame From for making so many of its characters lack willpower. Almost everyone goes insane/crestfallen despite being powerful. Makes no sense tbh.

I can agree. But I see it as: He let you do all the hard work by killing all the bosses and getting all the runes, then he tries to steal the throne underneath you.

For anyone that knows how to add information on a wiki page, under notes and trivia it should be added that Gideon Ofnir is a reference to Odin. Ofnir is one of the many names of Odin. As well as the “All Knowing”. If George RR Martin had a hand in writing this world then it’s not a coincidence.

Quite possibly the weakest boss in any Fromsoft game. If I died to this enemy on any playthrough I would uninstall the game and retire.

Pinwheel: Am I a joke to you?

I died to him 40 times... Boss experiences are very subjective. Build has a big impact. If you are pure melee this fight can be really frustrating as he gets away from you so easily and has such quick cast times with lots of aoe damage.

Pinwheel, ceaseless discharge, covetous demon, prowling magus and congregation, curse rotted greatwood, deacons of the deep, celestial emissary, witches of hemwick, those are definitely the easiest bosses. This guy sucks but he’s no pinwheel

He told me about other shard bearers before I beat Morgott.

Same for me. I defeated him in the outskirts... But that's different.

Entering Moghwyn Palace will also trigger the "Unlocated Demigods" dialogue, even if Morgott is still alive.
