At 20 faith and black flame does essentially equal damage as flame sling but costs 6 extra FP. Been testing on the dog and sword orge near the liftside chamber grace.

It might do the same damage upon impact but it leaves a flame that burns the target for an additional 180+ damage that lingers

I thought the same except there is a LOT of extra damage with Black Flame's DoT; don't test the raw damage on weak mobs, test the damage on high HP enemies and you'll see Black Flame's incentive is kinda like Chaos Fireball from Dark Souls; the DoT damage makes it worth it

Can you please test if it's worth using Godslayer's Seal with this spell? It says it buffs this particular incantation, but has weirdly low scaling stat. Is it possible you pull of more damage with other seals then?

The full description is:
FP Cost 18
Slots Used 1
Faith 20
"A black flame incantation of the Godskin Apostles.
Throws a ball of raging black fire.
Charging enhances potency and causes the fireball to explode.
Black flame is weighty. After dealing damage it continues to sap foes' HP for a very short time.

Some experimenting with it against the Decaying Ekzykes gave me the following:
33 Faith, damage includes DoT, but not with sneak attack bonus.
+2 Godslayer's Seal - 1062
+1 Finger Seal - 994
Base Finger Seal - 982
I'm not positive, but I think it might have a shallower arc than Flame Sling and moves slightly fast. I have found its easier to hit with.

Freaking awesome spell. Absolutely decimates Godrick the Golden with the wolves to distract him.

The cast time of Black flame feels faster than flame sling, am I the only one that thinks this?

Black Flame will be more useful than Flame Sling against higher HP opponents, because the burn AFTER deals %HP damage. Thus it's more efficient to use Flame Sling against low HP enemies, and Black Flame against higher HP enemies.
