so, where these creatures (humans, dogs, birds) mutated by the rot, or was there some external factor? Flesh falls from bone, eyes receed to nothing, beaks and mouths overfill with teeth, everything gets giant thighs, like wtf happened here

It��s probably a combination of the rot and the runes. The runes mutated the life of The Lands Between. And the rot clearly has mutational capabilities. Sounds like a monstrous mix.
