i long for the DS2 days when even a shortbow did good damage. this is just tool for sleep arrows, nothing else.

I'd assume once you get out of Limgrave and 50+ levels the bow really drops off and becomes pretty difficult. You're also not going to do well in PVP due to wasting Arrows and never getting a status effect off.

Bummed that this is the best scaling shortbow in the game. Was hoping we'd get a super cool endgame bow like in bow of want in DS2

After leveling the shortbow it looks like the composite bow still has better scaling?

It is not the best scaling shortbow, you are doing misinformation. Don't look at the letter but instead at the hidden modifiers. The Composite Bow will have better damage even at 80 strength.
