This weapon is very good for a couple of reasons. First of all, it can do respectable damage. Second of all it has a fairly rangy and fast moveset. Finally, it has the ability to stunlock many different enemies.

Do you always use it 2 handed?

The one handed move set isn’t that great. You’re gonna want to always 2 hand polearms

Like I said before the remake, this is a really good weapon, and it remains to be so in the remake. I you get lucky in 2-1 or get to the beginning of 5-2 before going to 4-x, then you can use this weapon to absolutely WALL the skeletons, especially the rolling ones. This is because the two handed moveset is fast, rangy, and non horizontal, it can two shot them with even an unupgraded one, and it does BLUNT DAMAGE, which is not only the best kind of physical damage, but also the most effective for all things bone. In conclusion, GET U ONE

Blessed Mirdan and blessed Claymore on a faith PVE build and you're pretty much set for anything the game has or a Dragon Mirdan on a Vitality build.

What is the best upgrade path for this weapon?

I read Blessed is a strong choice for Faith builds. It trivialises those builds it seems...

Blessed if you are faith, crushing if you like smashing things with a strength build :)

Where is the earliest you can loot this weapon? normal Scale miners or do you need to kill black phantoms ? (read this online)

The normal Scale Miners drop it.

I find the easiest spot to farm it early is from the 2 Scale Miners with hammers just above the Ed Elevator after you've unlocked it. Take the elevator up, kill them, run off the cliff, repeat. :)

This is the same as the halberd if you're going for a faith build, if you want Fire then the halberd is slightly better.. they could have at least changed the scaling stats on the upgrade paths to make these weapons different from each other.

I believe the Halberd has slightly more range while the mirdan hammer has the advantage of dealing blunt damage

The blunt damage makes the mirdan hammer slightly more superior

Guys this thing is incredible. The blunt damage works on basically ****ing everything at the early stages, and it can still be resin'd even with infusion. With crushing infusion +0 I was 1 shotting most enemies in 4-1-> 4-4 as well as the mines

You're not hitting things in 4-4 with melee.

This thing absolutely wrecks with a faith build (blessed infusion). Its damage output is higher than a fully upgraded Greatsword of Moonlight, it stunlocks everything (including most bosses) or breaks most enemy's poise in one hit, its fast and doesnt consume much stamina, it deals blunt damage and on top of it its stylish as heck. Only minor downsides are the lackluster R2 and one-handed moveset. I love this weapon.
