You have to have Shadowrush and Ashina Cross to unlock it. But don't do it. It's really bad and a total trap, it does does next to nothing in terms of damage or posture damage, it doesn't stagger hardly at all, and it uses 1 emblem for every attack in the combo up to like 5 or 7 emblems total. It's not worth the investment at ALL. I was really hoping for something good, considering it takes 44 skill points in total to unlock. Man was I a fool. FromSoft please buff. :c

same problem. i have shadow rush and asina cross. it still shows hidden secret technique on tree. i don t care if it is bad or not .... i would like the option to unlock it.

You need to buy floating passage from the Hirata pot noble

You either dont have the skill points. Or you dont have prerequisite skills to unlock lol

you have to get folating passage (you can buy it from the carp scale guy in hirata estate)

Correction I did some testing and it's 5 emblems total, assuming you can do the whole combo before getting hit.

Apparently Fromsoft heard you my friend. The last patch buffed this attack big time. It now obliterates everything on your way, dealing damage through their guard and even interrupting a few moves (you still have to be careful while using it but it's significantly better than before). It also only cost 3SE do perform the whole thing which makes it more than viable and totally worth the 9SP imo. Insane against the Tengu in Ashina castle, for exemple. You can be surrounded, no problem, they have seemingly no attack that goes through the bubble you create while using this attack. You can also destroy some bosses with it (I saw a dude using it on Emma and it was extremely convincing, to say the least).

It's terrible on literally all of them that do it, and make them inferior to the easier to acquire free-use alternatives. It's terrible design. I hope they patch out the costs, but I don't see that being likely.

You use them for literally 2 things in this game, if you wanna be a Super Saiyan and spam a bunch of flashy moves go play DBZ or DMC 5. Yes making an ability do more damage, extending the range or adding traits to an ability makes it inferior huh maybe you just need to git gud and stop spamming your abilities and prosthetic maybe throw out a regular attack chain or deflect every now and then.

Shadowrush/fall is really good for taking on enemies (or groups of enemies) that are giving you a lot of trouble. 2 emblems isn't the end of the world and you can use it from a safe distance, repeatedly doing decent vit/posture damage.
