In the Hirata State we can find a Mibu Balloon (I think it's the green one) on a boat. Which means there is a connection between Mibu Village and Hirata State. So the red eyes carp we find in Mibu Village is probably Harunaga in the present.

If you head to its lair immediately after giving it the truly precious bait without resting at an idol, it seems to go completely docile. I thought it would be gone as I went to loot the items in the cave, almost had a heart attack when it swam up next to me. But then I realized it didn't care, even if I slashed at it with my sword.
