I believe that the Syan soldiers with greatswords just drop the Greatsword instead of Mastodon Greatsword, at least in SOTFS

Wrong, there are non respawning syan knights guarding doors that require the king’s ring. One is in the forest of fallen giants. You start at the cardinal tower bonfire, go down the ladder, go across the bridge, throuhh the door that requires the soldier’s key and then to the left. There is another one in the shaded woods at the second bonfire go along the left path. It’s pretty straight forward. There is also a non respawning one guarding the loot in huntsmans copse. From the second bonfire go across the bridge, follow the path, turn right and stick to the edge on the right and you should see a mossy stone dome with a hole in it to drop down to. Be careful as this one is an enclosed space. I don’t know if he does high damage because I just got around him and backstabbed and killed him while he was getting up again. For a reference to my progress in the game I’ve cleared heide’s tower, went to and cleared no-mans wharf, and reached the lost bastille. I also cleared the forest of fallen giants, cleared the shaded woods and ruins, am about to clear doors of pharros, and lastly I cleared huntsmans copse and beat the executioner’s chariot. None of the syan soldiers at this point respawn and they aren’t wandering or lost, they’re non-respawning guards and this wiki is full of crap sometimes.

Did you check outside Aldia's Keep? The King RIng Door has one of them, I can;t remember if he respawns. You've mentioned Shaded Woods/Ruins already but hes easy to miss

Pretty much all of Drang Castle is good for them. The Hidden Room bonfire just before the TWIN dragon riders in Drangleic castle is near about 4 of them, 3 in a room and one on a landing between two stair cases. the King Gate Bonfire, heading backwards you find another 4 or so near Wellanger (the Ghost Chancellor NPC ), just outside is another half a dozen but a small army (about 15) of Royal Swordsmen will join them. Before Drangleic Castle the ones you encounter do no respawn

Half the enemies in the game have a turtle variant. It's pretty annoying

Nah I think there are plenty of enemies that are annoying as a mage, and also the shield bs is equally infuriating across all classes

I don't think I've ever seen the "roaming soul" variant use those lightning attacks but the ones in Drangleic Castle/Undead Crypt do them frequently. Anyone care to correct me?

I’m pretty sure Syan was a kingdom that sent troops of knights to aid Drangleic in the war against the giants. And Sir Syan was the king of Syan. If that’s not obvious enough.

It literally says Syan was one of Vendricks great military leaders. It's obvious Syan was just a knight for drangleic.

God imagine being very clearly wrong and then ending your statement with "if that's not obvious enough". This comment reads like George Berkeley.

It's bloody shame they don't drop the sword they wield, I'd love to add that to my collection.

Note: I know they drop the Greatsword but that's obviously not what they swing about when fighting.

They use the Black Knight Greatsword, only not fiery.

The kobolts actually drop the black knight greatsword. This is the weapon the syan sword wielders use! if you have the kings ring, go to the first bonfire outside aldias keep. Great farm there!

I'm pretty sure they're wielding Black Knight Greatswords only with no fire damage

Mechanically the heide's knights are the most similar we have to a black knight
