If you aim for MLGS(Str 18, Dex 18, Int 18), then you can also add this to your mage :)

MoonLight GreatSword, a very common weapon for hybrid/mage builds

That's funny because after a lot of searching for some raw physical damage to complete my Moonlight Magical Knight build, in the case i stumble upon magic resistant enemies in the late game, and I never saw anyone recommend this weapon on reddit. Happy to see someone else seing the potential of this weapon!

An MLGS build would go for 18/18/50, so this halberd isn't really a good choice. Watcher's Greatsword however compliments MLGS very well and is good for magic resistent enemies. Both MLGS and WGS benefit a ton from the Repair spell as well.

Is this better as is or should I infuse?

If your Int. is higher than Str. I'd definitely consider Magic infusion. If not, I wouldn't infuse. Alongside the Drakeblood Greatsword/Dragonslayer Crescent Axe, though, this is one of the best weapons for split damage, as its modifiers all remain fairly high and its base-damage mostly adds up to the same amount. Generally, split damage in DS2 isn't advisable, but it is a feasible option with this weapon; also, it'd pair well with the DGS/DCA if you put different types of infusion between the two so you deal all or most of the damage spectrum at once - that'd be interesting!
