Since this spell affect character AND items you can make a pretty devastating combo : put traps near your target and use impalement on the trap to impale character and make the trap explode

Says resisted by Physical Armor in the game text however the damage from the skill is actually resisted by Magic Armor with the Crippled effect resisted by Physical Armor. You have to completely eliminate the physical armor first to benefit from the CC effect of crippled.

It isn't flawed; the description is talking about the "crippled" effect, which is resisted by physical armor. But the spell deals magic (earth) damage.

You can also get this from the slug princess under fort joy if you kill her.

No, the loot is randomized. You may have any starter/ novice skill book on the slug. From some mods, even (if the mod added its skills to leveled lists, which some, like Helenae's, didn't). The only skill books i can think of that are always the same in Act 1 are the Rain skill book in the chest near the crocodiles you have to kill for the teleporter gloves. This and the Blood Rain one in Orivand's room. Plus, you can find some that are not in containers and hence, are fixed loot, too. Battle Stomp on the ground near Han in Knile's level, Chain Lightning in the Tower behind the Maze, and Provoke (if my memory is right) on the ground inside another one of Braccus' Vault, the one where you find Gareth. Every other Skill Book loot in Act I is randomized.

Oh, and there is the Contamination one is Mody's chest, in the frog caverns. Maybe i forget some more.

Addendum: It is Enrage in the Armoury, not Provoke. And when it comes to books not in containers, there is Worm Tremor in the Tower and Supernova in the Vault, too.
