I combined a summoner source skillbook with an aero skillbook (I wanted Cursed Electric Infusion) but I obtained this skill instead.

No you didn't. It is so annoying that half of the comments on crafted skills pages are posted by morons.

This doesn't always work I guess - I combined a source Aerothurge book with a normal necro book and got a Blood Storm skillbook.

Damage is slightly lower than blinding radiance (but bigger radius), and much lower than closed circuit.
Closed circuit creates cursed static clouds, which also cause suffocation.
Thus this skill is only good for the aoe silence.

The aoe suffocate is very useful for setting up other spells/character to do damage.

vacuum aura cost 1SP while closed circuit cost 2 SP also the clouds can affect allies when vacuum aura affect only ennemies

Pretty good spell. Especially on an Aero Battlemage. Pre buff your battlemage dive into the enemies blow up your closet circuit or superconductor destroy the magic armor and this spell should disable bunch of enemies if they survive.

Stun is a better CC than silence (except on enemies that are immune to stun), so if you're using both, use this one first and then your stunning spells.
