I wasn't really looking to play the game on harder difficulites...mostly interested in exploring and enjoying the story and not having to micromanage any skills or consumables. I've put maybe a half-dozen hours in and have a basic idea of how combat works, using either signs and/or weapons. I get the sense that the game is meant to be played using both (as in a sort of battle mage archetype). At the same time, if the game really hooks me later and I decide to up the difficulty for more challenge, I'd like to have the foundation for a decent build.
What skills and signs would you say serve a player well through the whole game, or that work well together?
