This is literally the cursed ward greatshield in the deacon's area in ds3.

That might be because it copied the pursuer’s in DS 2... note the 2

Yes. Pursuer's original name in Japanese is "Curse Ward" or "The Cursed One", I don't know why they translated it as The Pursuer. They got it right in DS3.

04Jun, might be because the original term was a bit too wordy/unclear for foreign audiences (Japanese has very, VERY precise words for concepts like Cursed or Unclean, so trying to accurately convey the concept may have been difficult). Pursuer fits the idea of it hunting Undead.

Yes and no. Similar, ddfinetly, but the Curse Ward Greatshield has the spear notches at the 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock not at 3 and 9.

If you're going to fight Nashandra melee then I recommend this shield because it increases your curse resistance along with the cursebite ring.

Or just wear any of the several head peices that offer curse immunity (black witch veil and any dlc boss' or vendrick's crown after beating them all and enchanting in vendricks memory)

This has better stability than Drakeeper's, which is probably the second best shield in the game after Havel's, but it lacks scaling which at 40 STR translates into 1-2% extra resistances.
