Can someone change that +15 to a plus 5? I'd do it but I don't want to get in trouble.

This is my main shield in DS3. Now that I'm trying out DS1, I'm kinda ticked that it's a rare drop before the Kiln. I mean, I have the Dragon Crest, but I always love the BKS.

OP literally never stated that the black knight shield is a rare drop in DS3. Learn how to read before trying to be edgy.

For real, why did everyone need to be a jerk? The BKS in DS3 is my all-time favorite. No, it isn't rare, but it's effective and that's the main point.

Just farm the berg and darkroot knight and restart if no drop. Should only take about 20 mins a run

I was lucky enough to get this to drop on the Northern Undead Asylum Knight when I was getting the rusty Iron Ring prior to Blightown. Made a lot of people happy co-oping for the Quelaag fight, being able to tank just about everything she threw at me while the host and other phantom attacked from safety, including her AoE fire ability that would only take a tiny sliver of my health away when blocking.

This is arguably the best all round shield in the game. Not too heavy, unparalleled fire resistance and when fully upgraded, has a stability that rivals greatshields. Additionally, this shield can very easily parry, and if that wasn't enough, it's damn stylish.

The only real downside for me is its low magic resistance.

well you shouldn't be tanking spells anyway

this shield is my favorite other than GCS and besides cloranthy ring is better anyways so BKS all the way

Would be cool if the shield positioned like it does for the black knights. (Upside down)

they hold it more sideways than upside down. it does look cooler though, the way they hold it. looks more aggressive

This is a very good shield (especially if you drop it early from a black knight) but it's clearly not the best shield. The silver knight shield has a better stability when upgraded +5 and better magic defense for a lower weight. But regarding only fire defense it's the best shield indeed.

It's one of the best shields for pvp and can be acquired from the very start of the game in pve.

It's one of the best shield for pvp and can be acquired much earlier then the sks shield for pve.

I wouldnt be blocking magic with a 40 magic sheild anyways so id prefer the extra fire resist over the sks

Fair point. I prefer sks as a general purpose shield, but this is great in situations where the extra fire resistance is useful. Dragon Crest shield is also great for that, but if you can afford the extra weight without compromising whatever roll speed you have, the additional stability makes the bks the best for such situations.

I usually gravitate towards the silver knight shield, but the black knight shield is excellent if you need extra fire resistance and can afford the weight. It has much more stability than the dragon crest shield. 40 endurance, and ROFAP should be sufficient for a fast roll if you use a light armor set e.g. pyromancer/tattered cloth set and have a fairly lightweight weapon (I prefer balder swag sword for dex builds). So for my needs and setup, this is the perfect shield when I need extra fire protection but don’t want to sacrifice much stability

white shield has 2 more stability and 15% more magic resist than black. and it's 1 unit lighter.
only thing the black shield has over white is the fire resistance
