Hey all so I'm playing NIoh and Love it but I'm having a bit of confusion when it comes to understanding weapons. If I have reached the MAX familiarity level for that weapon, can I level the weapon up like in DS or BB or do I disassemble it and start on a new weapon? Also, in the beginning you pick two preferable weapons, if it better to stick to those weapons or does it matter?

Thanks for the help!

You can Soul Match it with a higher-level weapon to increase its stats. That's a bit complicated on its own so you might have to Google around to get all the information on it.

"Also, in the beginning you pick two preferable weapons, if it better to stick to those weapons or does it matter?"
Far as I know, those only give you the +1 stat bonus, which doesn't really matter, and the two starter weapons, which you can replace immediately. It's probably more important to pick a specific Guardian Spirit.
You can also save your weapon if it have an inherit symbol which look something like this []>[] when you reach MAX familiarity. You can transfer that skill to another weapon you are currently using. I believe that both weapon need to have MAX familiarity for it to transfer to another one. You can only have one inherit on a weapon at a time btw the other one will change it inherit effect.
Hey great article I'm wondering what it means when your ranged weapon icons have a reddish background as opposed to normal gear colored icon. I'm think it might mine some inability to use the weapon fully ? But they are no requirements for ranged weapons. So I'm still scratching my head on this one ? Any idea ? I notice sometimes it's red and sometimes it isn't. Doesn't seem related to min/max familiarity either
Ammo type I think.

I'm having a bit of trouble understanding which icon you're referring to. Do you mean the icons on the right side of the screen that show which weapons you have selected? If so, it's just showing you whether you have your primary (blue border) or secondary weapon (orange-ish border?) selected.

I doubt it's ammo type, because I'm switching back and forth between types, and I don't see a reddish background... Did you run out of ammo?
Means your out of ammo
So, Kusanagi Tsurugi is the best sword in the game, barring elemental weaknesses, or is this list incomplete?

Kusanagi might look as the best sword in the game but when you are reaching the point where all the weapons are divine and you can enhance it (+1, +2, etc.) their base damage is almost equal. So it goes to built-in effects. For example, Nioh's Tachi and Kusanagi, both divine and +1 having almost the same base damage, but Nioh's Tachi does +20% damage to Yokai. It's just up to you to decide which one you need
Wait, I don't get it.

There is no minimal requirements in strength or dexterity to use a weapon, right? So what is the point to level up this stats? Why not just use my points to level up Body Heart and Magic?

Weapons don't require stats, but they do scale off of them. Strength affects axes and Dexterity affects kusarigamas. There are a few armor pieces that also require Strength in order to unlock their special effects.
'Sup guys i've a question for ya. Can every Katana has the same bonus effects? I mean I tried to get 'change on attack (heart) A-' but i could not.
So, in the meantime i'm using Namiyogi Kanemitsu because it has this effect.
I dont think you can reforge that stat on any weapon. If you have the stat "change attack.."on a weapon. That stat is always locked and cant be reforged. Hence it is a fixed stat on some fixed weapons.
What is the better option to do with a weapon? Disassemble, offer to get amrita, sell, or keep it in stock?
Early on, offering them them is more beneficial because in addition to getting amrita, you can get items like elixar. Don't really worry about disassembly until you need material
Do you get the buffs from a weapon you equip but not using?
Hi, i am wondering about the weapons from the dlc, if i buy the season pass, do i get access to the Tonkas and Odachi in the beginning of the game? Can i select my prefered weapon as the Tonkas so that i can start with them at the beginning of the game. Thanks in advance.
You will get everything
Where can I find a list of all the new weapons from bloodsheds end? I saw two Odachi's I haven't found yet. The only new one I have is the Bone looking one.
