I didn't know how cursed this game is until I laid eyes on the Basilisk. In fact, I didn't even know about the curse status effect, all I knew was that I didn't want those things to touch me.
Nor is it possible in the Remaster...even though it's a Remaster. Don't worry, Fromsoft know how much an embarrassment and a joke they made of themselves with this DEmaster hence look at Demon Souls Remaster
Too bad we can't respec our stats in RM. I'd drain the ten resistance points to 0 and level up other things. So very Sad. Can't wait for Elder Ring. Word Out
