I played on Xbox One and the last Necromancer dropped.Now on PS3, he didn't. My guess is, one of them (not the last one) dropped and I died or didn't see. So, the lantern vanisehd and I didn't get a 100% drop from the last Necromancer.

Sunlight Maggot is massively better, but rightly so. You need to get the lordvessel first. Another good alternative is the Cast Light sorcery, but that needs 14 int, so I wouldn't recommend it for non-sorcerers.

That's kind of the point. The Sunlight Maggot is a reward for people who put effort into finding a better method of lighting their way. But it does have the downside of not being a particularly great piece of armor, while the skull lantern can be used in the off hand while exploring until you need to switch back to a shield or secondary weapon.

Why the hell would the game specify something so apparent? Duh, dumbass.

@anon May 03 19 It’s not entirely apparent because in other games your character will usually automatically pull out an available light source when entering a dark area. Unlike***** souls they know how to make things less tedious and annoying.

Yeah its definitely bad game design not telling you even in the item description how to use it. This games fun but ot has flaws like everything else

Also serves as a fire damage strike weapon." \n literally says ALSO CAN BE USED AS A WEAPON, which implies isn't it's main use. now pay a close look to the equipment screen, the right hand slots have a sword next to them indicating it's for weapons, and the left hand has a shield, implying it isn't for weapons. "boo hoo i'm too stupid to use my brain so the game is bad (((( bad game me am smart spoon feed me the info like mommy feeds me her tiddy milk reeeeeeeeeeee"

Lot of people here getting upset and childish when their favorite video game gets criticized. As usual of course. It's a great game but it certainly doesn't bother to explain some things at all. Like it's not even intuitive. Why does the thing only emit light when you have it in your left hand and hold the block button? And why does the light go out if you attack? Is there is somekind button your character has to press? That's not how lanterns work lol. But then again it's magical skull thing so whatever. It's not a very fun mechanic. But I guess you play Dark Souls so that you can suffer, not so that you can have fun.

Gotta agree with you on that one. Had to look up online how to use it because I was stuck confused on how I'm supposed to make it light things up. And this isn't because I'm bad at the game or anything, the only real problems I've had so far are with the Bonewheel Skeletons and the first time I fought the Taurus Demon since I'd never played Dark Souls before and freaked the ***** out.
