None of the necromancers stored the skull lantern including the last one. None of the other wiki's list it as being guaranteed to drop from the last one so I don't think that it is.
I played on Xbox One and the last Necromancer dropped.
Now on PS3, he didn't. My guess is, one of them (not the last one) dropped and I died or didn't see.
So, the lantern vanisehd and I didn't get a 100% drop from the last Necromancer.
link me pls
Its not 100% drop chance I've played a lot of characters and a few time no skull lantern
Sunlight Maggot is massively better than this . The skull lantern only works when constantly holding block and not while jumping, rolling and sliding while removing you're ability to fight effectively since you can't carry a shield now or block.. not a good idea in a place as treacherous as Tombs with so many fall areas and lethal enemies. It's certainly better than nothing but I'd highly recommend getting the sunlight Maggot first which makes tombs so much easier!!
Sunlight Maggot is massively better, but rightly so. You need to get the lordvessel first. Another good alternative is the Cast Light sorcery, but that needs 14 int, so I wouldn't recommend it for non-sorcerers.
That's kind of the point. The Sunlight Maggot is a reward for people who put effort into finding a better method of lighting their way. But it does have the downside of not being a particularly great piece of armor, while the skull lantern can be used in the off hand while exploring until you need to switch back to a shield or secondary weapon.
On my current playthrough the 2nd and the last necromancer dropped a lantern. One lantern might be a certain drop, but there seems to be an additional dropchance for every necromancer.
Hey I'm going to do a run with this weapon only (god help me)
Why the hell would the game specify something so apparent? Duh, dumbass.
Ceaseless Discharge and Quelagg
Its so sad you can’t throw fireballs with this like the necromancers:(
You can in Demons Souls :)
I went too far into catacombs and got to tomb of the giants, yet had no light source, now i'm stuck and can't go anywhere else. I can't do much in tombs. :(
You most probably found a bonfire, so you probably also found Patches. There is a light source in the pit below him.
Beware that the Necros can and will fall off ledges to their death. I noticed three important mechanics while trying to get this. 1. Killing a Necro, quitting to menu, and reloading seems to despawn their bodies. So if a Necro falls all the way to bottom the player needs to make it to their body if they can find it. 2. I believe Bonfire use will despawn their bodies as well. I assume player death is the same. 3. They seem to be tagged as normal enemies and will not provide easy access to their loot. The Pharis and Lautrec quit/reload mechanic won't work for this.
damn i thought i had to use it in my right hand
It would have saved me a LOT of trouble if I knew to equip it in the shield hand! The game doesn't even specify!
Why the hell would the game specify something so apparent? Duh. If you couldn't figure that out you shouldn't be playing the game.
@anon May 03 19 It’s not entirely apparent because in other games your character will usually automatically pull out an available light source when entering a dark area. Unlike***** souls they know how to make things less tedious and annoying.
@ npc anon yeah this game isn't meant for you, may i suggest fortnite or candy crush as an alternative. People like you will be the death of good videogames.
Yeah its definitely bad game design not telling you even in the item description how to use it. This games fun but ot has flaws like everything else
"the game doesn't specify!" "This lantern alights the Tomb of the Giants, Nito's light-devouring domain of death. Also serves as a fire damage strike weapon." \n literally says ALSO CAN BE USED AS A WEAPON, which implies isn't it's main use. now pay a close look to the equipment screen, the right hand slots have a sword next to them indicating it's for weapons, and the left hand has a shield, implying it isn't for weapons. "boo hoo i'm too stupid to use my brain so the game is bad :((((( bad game me am smart spoon feed me the info like mommy feeds me her tiddy milk reeeeeeeeeeee"
Lot of people here getting upset and childish when their favorite video game gets criticized. As usual of course. It's a great game but it certainly doesn't bother to explain some things at all. Like it's not even intuitive. Why does the thing only emit light when you have it in your left hand and hold the block button? And why does the light go out if you attack? Is there is somekind button your character has to press? That's not how lanterns work lol. But then again it's magical skull thing so whatever. It's not a very fun mechanic. But I guess you play Dark Souls so that you can suffer, not so that you can have fun.
Gotta agree with you on that one. Had to look up online how to use it because I was stuck confused on how I'm supposed to make it light things up. And this isn't because I'm bad at the game or anything, the only real problems I've had so far are with the Bonewheel Skeletons and the first time I fought the Taurus Demon since I'd never played Dark Souls before and freaked the ***** out.
