This weapon seems excellent when you first get it. Good range, huge damage and swings fast for its size.

Mine has a red X over it even tho I have the skill in the skill tree required, when I equip it two handed I can swing it without any debuffs but the red X remains and I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong

You might have just done the wrong class, berserkers do one handed axes not greataxes, but if there's just one red line then that means you can swing it two handed just not one handed.
