Dark Souls SOFTS and the original Dark Souls 2 are not compatiable. You and your friend can't play together unless you both own the old DS2 or SOTFS.

Does being in the SunBros increase the soul memory range for summoning? If so, by how much? Has there been any testing on this whatsoever?

Got a typo for small sign summoning with the name engraved ring, it's down 7 not 6.

so dark souls 2's co-op system is based on your soul memory? that's bull why not make it like on bloodborne where you can co-op based on level and not how many souls you havd once

not if you stay on lvl 150 then because of soul memory you start fighting full equipped lvl 300 dudes. That isn't exactly more fair than the soul level based system.

LOL wow seriously "Why stop increasing your level though? Isn't it better to have more of any stat than less?". First souls based game I take it? Many players choose to play at a capped soul level for a variety of reasons. Build variety: many people enjoy making builds or characters who play with a certain style, playing at a level cap makes this more enjoyable than having 99 man with 99 everything doing everything. Balance (fair matches); Soul memory served it's purpose trying to prevent twinks (low levels high geared) characters from invading low level/low geared characters. However, there is only a certain amount of souls needed for gear, which is TINY when compaired against the total needed for levels. Also keep in mind some souls aren't spent but are lost from death, others are spent on consumables, which will have little to no impact on the final characters strength. High SL vs low SL due to memory is anything but "totally fair" SM is the one thing I despise about DS2 and am hoping it stays far far away from DS3

Why stop increasing your level though? Isn't it better to have more of any stat than less? And that is fair because you CHOSE to not level up. Those guys at level 150+ are using their souls to increase their own power. So if both parties have the best gear they are willing to use, and one decides to put the rest of their souls into personal power rather than sit on them for whatever reason, I believe that is totally fair. Both earned similar amounts of souls but spent them differently.

It's based on soul memory not level because as a whole you can spend your souls on levels or items, or gear, any and all of which can affect your combat. Say someone have a hard lvl of 100 and had some decent gear. they would be reasonably tough, but say if someone had same level but spent a lot more souls on their gear and had it maxed out they would have a major advantage in a fight. part of the balance is you have x amount of souls, did you spend them well or did you waste them. so take that same lvl 100 with maxed out gear now pit him/her against a slightly higher lvl enemy say around 125. the level 125 has very basic gear which doesn't help raise stats much. Who will win? it would actually be a more fair fight than the solid level based system.

Soul memory is a joke. As a dexxer I use a bow a lot. I've spent hundreds of thousands if not over a million of souls on arrows. How is that fair to me that I have a SM over 3 million in NG and I'm at level 120? People that have a high consumables rate get absolutely screwed by SM.

The biggest issue with SM is the fact that noobs can easily end up against pros. If you die and lose all your souls, your SM doesn't go down just because you lost those souls forever. So you could have a kid that's new to Dark Souls and has lost several hundred thousand souls to their inexperience being invaded by guys that never die once and have used all their souls to the fullest. It's an obviously broken system.

But guy below me, that's the whole point. The entire premise of this game is to be at a horrible disadvantage if you don't know what you're doing. Soul memory is the perfect system because it is exactly what the game was meant to be. It was only removed in DkS3 because all the noons complained so they had to make it easier. I honestly wish there was no matchmaking past ng, I love getting put against someone twice my level just as much as someone I can one shot. Matchmaking should just be training wheels for your first time through. P.S. A SL 50 can beat a 500 if they're good, you're all basically complaining "This game is too hard."

The entire ds2 matchmaking is broken along with either dsr or ds3 if this applies: if you have the right soul memory you can invade players in ng from ng+ or higher. Again, you must have the right soul memory. A friend told me this could also happen in ds3 or dsr where one could go through the game at a low level get all the gear beat the game go to a high activity place in ng+ or higher and invade/ get invaded from the ng they are coming from. Basically a twink. I think all the matchmaking throughout all of the games is broken

If you are having problems being summoned as a Guardian it's probably because hardly anyone is in the Blue Apostles. People fell into the trap From set of making it sound like a kingdom of wusses but in actuality - more blue apostles is better for everyone. You should join and get your mates to aswell, if more red and blue spirits fought, more people would rank up faster. PvP is a secondary way to rank Blood or Way covenants, aimed at people who cant rank directly by killing invaders / guardians (whichever you're not)

Same here. My friend and I simply cannot find each other, despite being almost identical in Soul Memory and using the ring.

Soul Memory includes the souls you've earned but not spent. I co-oped and had almost 100k souls I could have used to level up with or buy gear but lost them by dying twice before I could spend them. I'm screwed.

^^^ Correction ^^^
You can get invaded as a hollow ONLY by NPC invaders, otherwise no, you CANNOT be invaded as a hollow.

Maybe too late, but you can't see normal soapstone sign if your area bosses are already dead.

cracked blue eye orb invasions should be unlocked the same way the cracked red eye orbs work. at least it should be something similar with the dragon eye so it would be up 4 and down 4 tiers. right now that covenant seems to be dead for me. maybe it becomes alive when i gain more soul memory. im at 1 MIL

I just played on the iron keep bridge yesterday and got all the scales req. For rank 3 in about 4 hours. The pvp for DR cov. Is still pretty much alive in SoTFS for my SM tier 10 million.
