2 red NPC invaders appear (one at a time) just across the bridge, at the start of the Iron Keep.
A tip for if you find them difficult to defeat is to get a Seed of a Giant and watch the Alonne knights attack them for you.

I know that there is a bonfire after you defeat the Smelter Demon, but other than that, is it really that important to defeat him?

if you have the silvercat ring you can use the Belfry Sol Approach fire for that area, just climb the ladder and run and fall towards the raised area slightly above the bonfire

After defeating the Old Iron King I looted the chest and got a Sublime Bone Dust, not a Petrified Something. (Playing NG, not Scholar of First Sin)

Does anyone know where I can find info in the ds2 wiki about something that looks sort of like a giant burning head or something that appeared with an aoe fire explosion at the old iron king primal bonfire ?(I'm playing the ps3 sotfs) .After it lit me on fire, I was able to talk with it, it more or less said you've gotten far, you've got a long ways to go , see you later.

Exhaust the dialogue with the Miracle lady you meet in Heides tower of Flames. After that, head back to Majula and go on the route to Heides tower and you will meet her. Pay her to pass through to Huntsmans Copse (2000 souls) and go through Hunstmans Copse and Harvest valley (Fight the boss of Harvest Valley with fire, that snake ***** is difficult for me to defeat without some form of pyromancy at least). After the snake ***** you should arrive in the Iron Keep. This is probably old but I can't say I didn't try. You have probably already figured it out or quit by now though.

Whoops, Snake "nice lady" is the boss of Earthen Peak (after Harvest Valley) Harvest Valley's boss is the covetous demon. Sometimes these areas blend together. Shouldn't make a difference though.

Newbie here, I read that there's an illusory wall before going down to Iron Keep from the last ledge of Belfry Sol. But it didn't open... Do I need to do something first, or is it a bug?

Practical joke. I thought you just couldn't open them because of the message being in the way at first but in reality it should work regardless. Some people just leave the message saying there is an illusory wall when there really isn't. If you read that on a guide then maybe it just doesn't exist in the version of the game you are playing. I don't know of any illusory walls that have prerequisites. I'm sort of new as well. However, I'm pretty confident that if a message on the ground says it exists and then it doesn't then it's a practical joke meant to waste your time.

It's back in the Iron Keep once you turn the corner, and before you drop down to the bonfire.

So on SOTFS I also got invaded by a forlorn. I didn't know if it was a cosplay or not. It felt like a cosplay, but I couldn't tell. Judging by this, I guess it was some dude.

It's not a cosplay. In SotFS a Forlorn invades you randomly here.

After the snake ***** you should arrive in the Iron Keep. That is what you do in SOTFS and it is probably what you do in the original as well because they are pretty similar. If this was useless then I apologize.
