Anyone else agree this is based of the Dragonslayer?

I mean, I know it's obvious, but still

It's an endgame weapon available near the beginning of the game. It's great for multiple enemies as well as nimble ones, since the large sweep covers so much area.

Honestly, if anything, I think it's more inspired by Guts and Berserk, since From Soft loves their Berserk references. As for why it's used a lot, it's because it's easy to get, and one of the best Strength weapons in the game, flat out.

This sword looks nothing at all like the Dragonslayer jfc it's not even close.

Why is every pve player using this? Is there like a popular guide for dks2 that demands you get the greatsword?

Is it recomendable to add the rea stone infusion to the Greatsword?

Try it, won't hurt if you have palestone available as well.

Raw is pretty good if you just want to deal absolute damage. However, I prefer leaving it +10 with the S STR scaling. It's like you're hitting things with a truck with that.

I don't think so, as it has an S scaling on STR it would be an downgrade to remove that scaling

making weapon with S scaling raw is insane ! It's blasphemy and pure madness

Terrible idea. While you get "more" raw damage, that's not the sole drive of damage in Dark Souls. The biggest thing, bar none, is damage scaling. The weapon has an S rank. That 60 more damage you get with a raw infusion is dwarfed by the strength scaling damage you get with it, something like 170 damge. 570 (+10 regular) is more than 460 (+10 raw).

So has anyone else else noticed that the parry with this thing can break chests if they are in the right location? I'm wondering if it counts as an attack if the target is to your left in just the right spot. Going to test it out but just broke a chest with just the parry. Wish me luck

Such a fast test. No, no it does not. It just breaks objects :( kinda disappointed would've been a nice mechanic for them being such big weapons and all

II just love this beauty, my favourite weapon, I have to say
Excellent for crowd control, with an equally excellent damage output. This thing carried my all the way through the game and all the 3 DLCs and literally saved my *** against Fume Knight. IMO, a top tier as far as UGS are concerned

a bad weapon imo, the 2-handed R1 strike misses opponent annoyingly a lot and the R2 strike is very slow. Don't bother pumping titanite into this, especially as you find the far better Large Club soon after finding Greatsword.

It will miss really fast opponents when you are locked on and two handing RB attack. The Allone knights are a perfect example, but its predictable and avoidable. It only happens to a small small handful of enemies in the game.

you just don't know how to use it

I know exactly what you mean. Beating the Lost Sinner, for example, was very challenging because of that but you can solve the problem by not locking on your target.

I left the last comment, and I have now changed my mind. The 2-handed R1 strike of this weapon is very good actually it's quite quick, very good for taking out bosses and fatties. I now like the sword.

awesome weapon for a strength build in pvp or pve, use the 1h moveset for horizontal swings, and the 2h R2 will almost never hit but the follow up R2 is surprisingly fast and is good for punishing people trying to backstab you, also jump attacks!
