Just recently watched a playthrough. Glad I never bought any dlc for this game. I might've killed myself had I played it.

It... yeah. If you don't have the patience to learn the dodge-frame timing, this one is brutal. Still, it's a great challenge in a world of dime-a-dozen easy games that spoil and pamper the player, so there's that.

Message to summons to the Ivory King fight (Ref "please don't do this when summoning other players, it's annoying") :
It is very common for people to farm loyce souls before they defeat the boss because this is the most effective way to do it. So if you are summoned, don't be offended if you are black crystalled out just before the boss arrives. Learn from those who have farmed the 50 loyce souls required to all the rewards, and farm all the loyce souls BEFORE defeating the boss yourself.

Re Feathering not working with summons - you need to black crystal your summons out and then feather yourself out. Tip: Hot key both because you have to be fast to black crystal 3 summons out and feather your self out before the ivory king arrives.

Or, you could just use the homeward miracle...

This was the hardest boss of the Game. I died about 50 times. Finally made it with the red twinblade (lightng) two-handed...

Before the Ivory King DLC, I shielded everything, like a lazy sob. Then I met Aava, who promptly taught me how to dodge like a boss (since I didn't have any super-special gear when I found this place, and was otherwise quite out of my depth). After defeating Aava and the ivory king this way (without the 4th discovered knight mentioned above), I feel confident saying that in spite of the Ivory Kings almost ridiculous advantages compared against most other bosses, his attacks were remarkably predictable and easy to dodge.

It's sad that most DS2 bosses can be tanked and spanked, in DS1 this ain't so. Being able to block all boss damage with a meager 12 strength required shield felt like a snooze. That said, those same bosses that can't be blocked have ridiculous hitboxes, erractic moves (90% of the time it ends and the other 10% there's a follow up), extremely narrow openings in which to heal or attack and many of them seem to have an "estus ai" (same as gwyn: if you heal he'll charge) and turn out to be a royal pain... not to mention the absurd number of enemies you have to kill to get to them (I'm looking at you sir alonne!). Honestly, I have more fun 2 handing vs easy bosses, having ditched the shield, than having to deal with all that. Anyone else wanna run back and forth, over and over again, chasing sinh, only to watch him leap into the air again? Lol. He's not hard, just annoying.

I do hope you're joking. No really. I REALLY hope you're joking. That is one of the most inaccurate things I've ever read.

In ds1 you can literally just use a shield to block most attacks bosses do, and even when you cant with something like havels armour you can just poise gwyn and win the fight without have to dodge a single attack

That was so painful to try to read.

This guy just has the worst attack animations. The start up frames are awkward and too long, and the hitboxes are just absurd.

Uh...what? He has the smoothest and most fairest moveset. He is literally on par with Artorias, moveset wise. Well, even lore-wise I'd say, but that's another story.

Truth. How can someone even compare this to Artorias. Trash fight with untimable attacks and bugged hitboxes and super tedious first phase.

Lmao, who is this * thinking this guy is anything like Artorias?

Artorias' hitboxes aren't twice the size of his sword and his charge strike is actually predictable to dodge.

Artorias also doesn't have a ****ing gank before him and doesn't attack you 24/7 leaving you no room to heal.

Clean moveset, no phantom range like other DS2 bosses (Smelter Demon...). Epic buildup. Love it.

Not sure if this is still viable, but if you kill the Charren Loyce Knights quickly enough to get the king to come out before the portals are sealed, then you can lure him over to a portal as one of your knights prepps to freeze it, if done right you can one shot the King in a Frozen portal

At least people can now see his body as if he were still alive how frozen.
