When you finish the game with the second ending you replace gherman, and you see yourself in a wheelchair(as Gherman) so i think that guy can be another past hunter who tracends the hunt as you and now with another hunt is recluting hunters

look up the word, and their purpose becomes more clear: they are overseers, connectors, etc. of the dream/nightmare/real world. They are at first docile and scattered everywhere (like actual amygdala in one's brain, etc. serving as beacons and transmitters or whatever), but once your insight grows, and you get closer to "The Truth", you are attacked by one. Coincidence? Nope.

"Kos (or some say Kosm) granted eyes to Rom, the spider that hid the Mensis Ritual and the horrific consciousness of Queen Yharnam with a veil." What does Kos and Rom have to do with Queen Yharnam and her consciousness and veil?

For my point of view, protagonist understands by insight and later by consuming The Umbilical Cords than only way to save himself from turning into beast is to: 1st ending - be killed by Gehrman 2nd ending - kill Gehrman and become the watcher of the dream(thus preventing you from turning into beast i suppose) 3rd ending - kill Gehrman and later kill Moon presence to become a Great one. The more Umbilical Cords Hunter consumes the more knowledge he gains. Or for my second thought that the Purpose of the Hunter is simple - He lives for the Hunt, also the games insistd you to continue the hunt after credits(not like in DS series, where you can choose to begin new game or not)

At the very beginning of the game, after you are given a blood healing treatment, a beast rises up out of a pool of blood and approaches you. I noticed that the best isn't hostel in its movements or gesture. When it reaches out to you, it's almost as if it wants you to accept it, to embrace the best within you you might say. However, the second the beast touches you, it bursts into flames and dies. A metaphor that you are immune to the curse of the beast scourge perhapses? After the beast dies, the messengers appear and are fascinated by you as they gather around and close in on you. Perhaps this is how they find hunters and/or think some people are hunters? I'm guessing is encounter with the messengers links you to the Hunter's Dream, for right after you black out you hear the doll say, "Ah, you have yourselves a hunter." So now, you are drafted/indentured into service of the Moon Presence? Just something I noticed and speculate.

Maybe the goal of the hunt is to kill Oedon? The moon presence intends to keep the dream alive either by keeping Gehrman trapped in there or trapping you in there. This would imply that the true purpose of the hunt and the dream is not yet fullfilled. Maybe the moon presence wants to kill Oedon and killing his son (provided you believe the fact that Oedon impregnated Queen Yharnam) was only the first step to limiting his power. Maybe the moon presence is spiteful of Oedon because of how far Oedon has ascended.

It seems Redgrave has finished his thesis "The Paleblood Hunt", a massive Lore interpretation. As I didnt see him referenced in here, but do believe he deserves it, I'll link it below.
