So, after a tedious hit-and-run of the enemies here, I've gotten a science down on how much exactly the WHOLE of Cainhurst Castle gives. Keep in mind I used a Tier 1 Moon Rune (10% more Echoes) so I don't have the default echoes.
In total, 70,215 Echoes (not exact) can be achieved by running this whole area with Tier 1 Moon rune, by killing all 7 Bloodlickers (17,787 Echoes), 11 Maggots (2,541 Echoes), 46 Bound Widows (24,794 Echoes), 10 Dart Shooting Indentured Servants (6,160 Echoes), 6 Rapier wielding Indentured Servants (6,006 Echoes), 12 Gargoyles (12,012 Echoes), and the one Red-eyed Gargoyle (915 Echoes).
Remember, I had the Tier 1 Moon rune, so it's not the default runeless amount. I might update this post once I math all that out again without the rune, I might.
Welcome.

The forbidden forest, with claw mark and one moon rune pays out much better than cainhurst. All the hunters and large hunters can be visceral attacked for 1100-1400 echoes each. The two executioners can be stealth attacked from behind for over 7500 each, there are three maneater boars that can be reamed from behind for around 4000 each and that's without all the snake parasites and large snake balls. I leveled up really quickly and got good at the gun parry by playing through the forest a couple of times.

So how long does this take as the Forbidden Woods gives around 40,000 with the tier 1 Moon equipped and takes about 5-10 minutes.

That should say heir rune not claw mark. heir gives substantially more echoes for visceral attacks which I found more than viable for grinding quickly early game, in the the woods more so than central yharnam.

You can also find a tempering blood gemstone and a warm blood gemstone in this level. Someone ought to add this info on the article))))

I think the bloodlickers drop those as well, the definitely drop the gem that works with firearms if thats the warm type?

No, the Warm Blood Gemstone is found in a chest in the upper level of the library, accessed by the hidden ladder.

The trivia is wrong, Logarius the bastard wears dark clothing in my game.

#15838666
Well, after killing Logarius I went to the dream to resupply and repair and stuff, and sold the crown. Only now I've read that if you put it on a WHOLE ***** AREA will open for you. How the he'll was I supposed to know that? So, now have I lost access to it entirely?

I also wonder why you would be so hard up for echoes that you would sell a unique item like the crown of illusion.

#15838668
Yep. You'll have to wait till NG+ to access it. It's a shame because the new area contains Annalise (the sexiest character in the game).

Not just her majestic awesomeness Annalise, but you've missed out on a rather good sword you wont get anywhere else. You have even buggers up your opportunity to get the wheel hunters badge from alfred because without getting the unopened invitation from the queens chamber you can't progress his quest. That was a pretty expensive mistake really.

Well, you could have first noticed that the boss himself is wearing the crown, but that might not make it obvious. Then you find out he DROP it and it's wearable. Finally, you could have read the description to find out it has a use and that the boss used it to see things. Making the connection after that should be simple enough.

This area reminds me a lot of Castlevania, especially the Vampire Castle in Lords of Shadow. Even the gargoyle are somewhat similar to the lowly beastly vampire! Not saying they are referencing it though. Also, the Snowy gate at the start reminds me a lot of Castle Dracula in the Van Helsing movie! :o

what do you make of the broken bridge and frozen solid horses? The bridge is impassable to any horse and carriage, And it is obviously implied that the horses have been dead for a long time to the point of ribs being visible where the flesh has decomposed, the coach also doesn't look like it has been used in a very long time.

The cutscene does not trigger for me even though I have killed the witch and have the summons, any advice?

#15838676
If anyone else is having problems with this make sure to walk RIIIIGHT up to that glowing stone thing for the cutscene! I guess if that doesn't work try reloading?

Just a callout to JudasBlitzkrieg for the effort that went into adding walkthrough text to this and other areas. Thank you for thinking of everyone and helping out those who cannot access youtube or rely on text for whatever reason. Let this comment be the thank you so many will think and not type! <3

Horrible advice to go for the mob at the end of the room first. It's wy easier to take out the first few brides one by one, and if it notices you then go to kill it.

Yeah rush him, just don't run straight at him jink left to right or whatever and he will rarely get you.

yeah that works for me everytime, more or less he will get lucky now and again, but I rush for him then use a charged R2 on him.
By Anonymous
#15838685
on the contrary. if you run you'll get that dart shooting ***** in a second (especially through the staircase), thus making sure that it won't notice you and all the brides will rush on you. just evade the darts.

Changed the loot/ghosts bullet point in the trivia section to reflect the results of testing. Once you go into the dining room, any ghost outside of the great hall entrance are immediately hostile regardless of if you have looted any corpses. The treasure chest in the back-right corner of the hall does not anger the ghosts, but pillaging the corpses in the hall does.

Also went ahead and updated the Executioner's Gauntlet piece; the item in that location is the Hunter's Tool, Executioner's Glove. The Gauntlet is included with the rest of the set minus the head piece.

#15838689
you get it from alfred after finishing his questline. I think.

where is the head piece? Or it doesn't come with one?
