Any weapon in the game that has a second damage type cannot be enchanted. This includes: Blade of Mercy, Burial Blade, Chikage, Simon's Bowblade, Holy Moonlight Sword, Logarius' Wheel, Amygdalan Arm, Bloodletter, Tonitrus, Boom Hammer, and Kos Parasite.

They have a fire blood gem slotted that adds an amoumt of flame damage higher than the BoM's intrinsic arcane damage. Need to verify, but I believe this is the case with any weapon with different arcane gems added (e.g. a bolt and fire gem).. the hit animation will be given to whichever stat is the highest.

Lore wise, the weapon is made of something called siderite, just like the burial blade. Both of these weapons have a built-in damage modifier based on arcane, so it's believed that a metal that came from outer space has special "arcane" properties. That's why you can't use anything on the blades at all. They're arcane fused from the get-go.
The Logarius Wheel has a special arcane modifier by how many times you spin the wheel, although this is due to the weapon being drenched in Vileblood, well, blood so to speak.

No, not really, she will appear in three locations in her quest, a hidden location in central yarhnam, cathedral ward, and the healing church.

... I swear I replied to this... Huh. Basically, open up with a bunch of theatrical crap, make jokes, blood addled Hunter you are, blah blah blah, information starts here. The Blades of Mercy have limited range, so you'd be best to use a longer range weapon. If she catches you in a stun-lock, the blades will decimate you instantly. Be careful, poke at her, and don't stay close for too long. Or else she'll tear you apart. Just remember... I'll be seeing you soon... Huehuehue.

Does anyone have a good glyph for radial rapid poison gems? I would really appreciate it

In the meantime I tried a rapid poison build, and it is quite useless... shame. I will stick to physical dmg, but thanks for the anwser.

The vandalism on this page due to someone hating on the blades irked me, so I decided to try and clean up the damage to the best of my ability. Hopefully it's not a chronic problem, but for now I think this should fix most of the vandalism. Anyone else can feel free to chip in ofc.

Hey guys, the guest account in the OP of this particular discussion is actually me. Decided to make an account after I made fixes to the vandalism that happened in both this page and the Tonitrus. Gonna see if I can make any fixes elsewhere, but I'll do my best to help out here. Since, you know, no one should ever have some random guy/gal crap all over their favorite weapon/hunter item page because someone simply couldn't stand getting #rekt by it, lol.

I'm building a skill bloodtinge character right now, just PVE, no PVP, and I was wondering, I'm planning to raise my skill and bloodtinge to either 50 each, 50/40, or 40 each, I'm not sure right now. But I don't plan on putting any points into arcane, I was wondering if you can still get good damage with just skill scaling? I presume so, because its S, but I'm not sure.

Yeah, I've been mainly running the rifle spear so far, I'm in the forbidden woods now, so it won't be long before I can get hold of the reiterpallasch and chikage. I was going to use the Chikage as my main weapon anyway, I was just thinking about having the BoM as a secondary weapon. I was just thinking, even if I don't take the arcane scaling into account, 120 phys, 60 arcane and an S scaling in skill combined with it's attack speed is still something to think about, even if it's just as a secondary weapon. But thanks for the help dude, I didn't even know what the madara's whistle was until I read your comment and looked it up.

Technically you can make the Blade of Mercy work on a pure skill build. However, because you've chosen to run high bloodtinge, the issue you'll run into with the BoM is that the transformed mode will disable a firearm, and as a result you cannot make any use of the bloodtinge. You could use the Madara's Whistle with this weapon, but in the end run the BoM was designed for skill/arcane builds because of its special scaling with arcane.
If you're doing a skill/bloodtinge build and you have no interest whatsoever in arcane, you might as well just save yourself the trouble and run something different, like the Reiterpallasch; Chikage; Rifle Spear; or Simon's Bowblade. It's far more efficient and each of these weapon make great use of the skill/bloodtinge stats in their own way.

The Blade of Mercy is overall my favorite trick weapon in Bloodborne, and it was due to the vandalization of this page a while back that prompted me to create an account here.
Anyways, enough chest thumping, I realized that there were some grammer errors I made when I first fixed the page and someone pointed out the brother/sister combo this weapon shares with the Burial Blade, the other siderite weapon in this game. So...decided to make some more edits.

Ok so if I understand the page. The blades of mercy do scale with arcane so would that mean I would have to raise it along with skill to pull out damage or would it still be ok on a skill pure build?

Pretty much the above. However, leveling arcane does mean being able to use the bells and whistles from the arcane line, so it's not a bad idea to level arcane up. The current meta is either 15 for the non-scaling arcane tools (e.g. Old Hunter's Bone) or 50 to maximize damage on the scaling ones (e.g. A Call Beyond).
Keep in mind that you can use hunter tools even while dual wielding a weapon (Burial blade) or using two at once (Blade of Mercy), so arcane is still incredibly useful even if the damage output on the weapons are negligible. Furthermore, pimping out arcane increases the drop rate of items for enemies, so there's that too.

Sorry for the double comment, but here's a combo example of someone who does level skill and arcane at once, and in this case the arcane is 50.
A Blade of Mercy (transformed mode) user can use Augur of Ebrietas to open up enemies for visceral attacks, then simply slice away afterwards. Same goes with the transformed Burial Blade. This is merely one of many choices an arcane/skill user can make, which why these weapons are considered potent choices even if you cannot modify the damage type of these weapons through blood gems.

For a long time I used the BoM and the BB (both have arcane damage) without levelling arcane above 15 and the dmg was great with only physical gems. Arcane scaling is completely negligible.

I'd recommend leveling your arcane at least to 18, if only for Augur of Ebrietas' sake. 20 if you want to use Executioner's Gloves.
Augur+BoM can allow you to hit you enemies almost non-stop.
Example: transform BoM, hit them really fast, as your stamina is about to deplete use Augur, while enemy is knocked down wait for stamina to refill, start hitting them again and so on until your foe is dead. Killed Micolash this way, he didn't even have a chance to use a single Call Beyond.
