I don't think the doll is Oedon. oedon is formless and communing w Oedon isn't easy. The hunter wudnt be able to understand a thing. The best Carryl could do was draw magic runes from his voice, Symbols, scratches and marks, not quite words

If she is a great one then gehrman possibly made a great one. But for what purpose is he trying to let the dream out of the influence of another great one

"Seek the Paleblood to transcend the hunt." There is a theory - based on the hidden ending - that the Doll is a Great One (possibly Oedon) who developed the Hunter's Dream to circumvent the typical loss of children that Great Ones suffer from.

I can't recall word for word. There are two, kill Maria, Doll mentions feeling heavy shackles being lifted from her but doesn't know why. The doll was fashioned after Maria. Once you end the hunters nightmare she mentions that Gehrman sleeps soundly when he would normally have had a nightmare.

How passing strange... *giggles*" that's the dialogue written up. i think that the doll was made after maria left gehrman for the hunter's nightmare while gehrman watched over the hunter's dream. if he made the doll he may have made it in the likeness of maria or used something of maria's that gave her that form and connected her to maria who presides over the hunter's nightmare. i mean maria is clearly not blood drunk like all the other hunters in the nightmare besides the other 4 NPCs 1 who enters the dream to find it's secret, one who was placed their to protect the secret, one who is insane and may in fact be blood drunk or valtr's league really really messed him up super bad to the point the dream thought he was blood drunk and sucked him in, the other is a resident of the nightmare and is an experiment patient possibly placed there by the church. honestly it's super interesting seeing this added in. miyazaki you mad genius.

Definitely. Doll cloth description and Maria armor description suggest that Gehrman did make the doll after Maria. He was probably depressed and missed her a lot. She is guilt bound to the hunters nightmare as she and Gehrman raided the village w the byrgenwerth hunters. Rakuyo is tossed into the well when she can stomach it no longer. A bloody chest that trails from her neck suggests suicide.

To sum it up she feels a heavy burden being lifted from her/ shackles. The doll was made by Gehrman to resemble Maria because he missed her greatly. Killing Maria in the nightmare will free her from it.

She is just sometimes there, I am not sure if there is any cause for it. It is likely just a random event that can happen like her sleeping.
