I don't know guys when this article was valid, but now he's one agile son of a *****, spinning axe attack will unlikely hit him and doesn't stagger him anymore. He also keeps his head low, so you will bump onto it and will get swiped in attept to roll under him.

I beat this boss the first time I tried on my first playthrough, which I accept now, was mostly luck and being overleveled. I'm now trying with a new character (not NG) with the same weapon build (if slightly lower level), and just cannot seem to quite get it. I think it must be a frame-of-mind thing, I'm just too sore for losing to a boss I originally thought was easy.

Boss took me five or six tries. The first couple were to see his moves and I learned he is next to impossible to keep at a distance for long. He's quick and he'll come at you. So, next few times were about testing how up close and personal I can get with him and sure enough, as he was about to do is two handed swipes, I was able to dodge into him and wound up/behind. A couple of wacks with my threaded-cane (with fire-paper) took a chunk, but I was greedy and didn't move in time to not die from his body electro shock thingamabob. Next time, I was able to evade that. Dodge into him, take a few wacks, dodge out before blast. Did that a couple of more times, only I was able to stun him to the ground. Took out a much bigger chunk of his health just whacking away while he was on the ground. He got up and I did it all over again. Once he's on the ground it doesn't take long to finish him off.

If you completely skip Hypogean Gaol by never going to Old Yarnham or beating the Blood-starved Beast, and instead fight Paarl after getting to Yahar'gul by beating Rom, you will be Unable to use a player to help you co-op this fight. I just tried with my friend and there's a fog wall over the doorway to get outside of the prison area that you can't pass thru with a player in your world. My guess is, after you progress that far, the game assumes that you are going to fight The Reborn One, not Darkbeast Paarl.

In my opinion, Paarl might be a former Spark Hunter who had the misfortune to get captured by the Church and experimented on. This transformed him into this electricity spamming monstrosity we know today. This is just speculation, but maybe Paarl the Storm used the Tonitrus? Love to hear what you think. -SilverDranglor

There's a summon mark just as you drop down to the path to the arena, the guy wields a Flamesprayer and can be pretty handy

Shut the ***** up. millions of people killed this boss in their first encounter, you just suck at the game. Quit *****ting your pants and whining about how the boss's design/fight pattern sucks, this game isn't meant for you.

Managed to beat first time with help from the NPC summons (more luck than judgement I reckon!). Let the NPC distract him (he survived 3/4 of the fight) while doing mostly charged two-handed axe attacks, after NPC dies switched to short one handed slashes.
