I went to get her to Odeon Chapel, and when I knocked the door the dialog that tells me to go to the church plays. Now pretty much every single door I knock on has the same dialog. Please help!

Dying fixes it

There's so many different potentially crazy theories regarding how she dies, but like there's an Amygdala sitting on the bloody roof and I've never read anything about the evil nightmare monster being a potential killer... ah well, maybe he only tries killing me.

Almost every Amygdala we find just seems to pick up whatever they can, look at it, and if they have no special item they drop it. The damage you take is from frenzy. But maybe she was killed by that one.

When I first met her and even after I sent her to the safe Cathedral Ward, I was appalled at how despicably ungrateful she was to me. Later, once she started griefing in anguish I felt a slight lightening of my anxious contempt towards her, as such despair is the rightful act of karma. You can guess I was very surprised and felt a bit awkward when later I came back to her welcoming me and wanting to.... ease my pain. I received her offerings as forms of apology, but I grudgingly thought to myself, "These still don't make me forgive you for how you acted towards me when we first met." But when I returned again I found the note on her chair of her leave, probably to get more medicine for me. Not knowing what to feel, I sat down in front of the chair and waited, compelled enough to wait as the note said... As I sat, I thought "This Cathedral Ward is the only safe place around, a place she wanted to take shelter in for protection when we first met, but why would she knowingly leave? That would just be a stupid act of suicide. Has she finally lost sanity to that point? Wait... is it because I told her I was in need of more healing? Is she risking her life out there just to ease my pain because I asked her to? Alright, I forgive you for all the bad you've shown me, just don't throw your life away like this!" I returned again, relieved to see she made it back safely. Feeling as though she would feel horrible and despairingly useless if I didn't take the gifts she risked her life for, I accepted them. Then came the moment when she again didn't have any to give me. Taking a moment to understand what I've done, I realized that I've made a horrible mistake: I asked her to leave again so selfishly and I couldn't take it back. When I returned, I found the note again and prayed for her safety, but something caught my eye when I turned to look outside: an item outside? No.. it couldn't be..? I hastingly rushed out there to find her bloodsplattered corpse next to a grave with the gift she left to get for me. Riddled with grief, I left a message to give her corpse proper care, and returned to the only one left in the Cathedral Ward. He reassured what I guessed but didn't entirely accept, that she was murdered, and when he said it could've been a person coming from the outside, I strikingly remembered that right before I came there, I dealt with Alfred and the queen, and that the grave area was within the path he would've taken back to where I first met him. I rushed over there, preparing to question him and probably killing him out of the burning desire for revenge I felt, but it was too late..... Now I will never know if he was the one to do it, and I will forever remember the regret I felt that day. I wonder if that grave is for somebody she knew, and she was visiting their grave before she came back? Even coming here, I find no answers to these questions...

Why would Alfred kill a granny? Doesn't seem to have much motif to bother does he? Though, most interestingly, if you kill someone in Cathedral Ward, the people left will raise their arms in front of their heads, as if begging for mercy, and when you come back, the chapel dweller behaves as if some other beast came in and killed them. Very odd, as if the process of going back and forth between the dream affects others perception of who you are or were, that, or the chapel dweller is really desperate to have you as a friend... Makes me most curious about what happens to our body when our consciousness retreats to the dream, and how we always come back to a... seemingly healthy body, even after we likely got chewed and spat and torn and smashed. Also, in Alfred's defense, he was dead before the granny ever ventured out in my game. Most likely in my opinion is she wanted to die, as if beneath her motherly facade she knew it was going to lead up to her death, lonely and old as she were, I'd say she died as happy as she was going to get.... -"sincerest thanks therefore have audience with grief."

Holy*****, nice fanfiction! I wish i could see the events of this game through your eyes, and that's saying something as i think this game is awesome. So, from what i understand, she starts being friendly with you after her breakdown because she thinks you're her son. This is basically cannon as it's entirely supported by the dialogue (you can look above to see what i mean). The fact that she gives you sedatives implies that she's taking them, hence the sudden mellowing out of her personality and her confusing you with her son. So basically, what actually seems to be happening is not that she's trying to guilt trip you into liking her with her mental breakdown and then sweet talk you into liking her later as you described, it seems as though she was just genuinely rude and untrusting of you even though you saved her, she had a mental breakdown, she took sedatives to calm her down and then in her druggy stuppor she thought you were her son. I suppose this doesn't change the fact that she was genuinely trying to help by going out and getting you "medicine", but she was getting you sedatives so i'm not sure how greatful you should be.

The sad truth is that like everybody else under the Red Moon, the old bat just goes nuts and thinks you're her child for some reason, which is why when she sees you "stressed and tired", presumably from the hunt, she offers her sedatives and says they will "help you forget". Which tells me she's straight up in denial about something and has probably been chugging sedatives to the point she's lost the plot. Killing her at this state makes her say "It's your father's blood." So I'm gonna say her husband is an abusive prick and that's why's an *** to you up until now. No idea who or where her child is, possibly dead, but...yeah she's not sorry for ****, she's just met her unhappy ending like everyone else in this ****ed-up bloody town.

After getting all the sedatives from her (1, then 2, then 3) she will eventually leave a note asking that you wait a little longer. Eventually she returns and will again give you 1 more sedative. Next time you return she will be gone again and another note will be there asking you to wait again, however, if you look just outside the door next to her chair, you will see her dead. On her body is a single sedative, which I assume she went out to get for you. Sad really.

She was kind to me even before beating Rom, she started speaking to me kindly after I beat Shadows of Yharnam.

I think she drugged her child to death in order to save it from the nightmare. This action drives her to insanity and she ends up mistaking you for her child as she relives it again. Guilt ridden, she overdoses out in the graveyard.

Nah. I tried consuming 99 pills of sedative in a row, I did not vomit blood nor did I die from overdose. You're safe eating that stuff.

Vomit from internal hemorrhaging can depending what's in that sedative.

Overdosing doesn't cause large blood streaks across the ground a few feet away from your corpse.

I read somewhere in prepatch notes that Patches is her son. I have a theory that he disappeared into the nightmare potentially after one of the various souls titles he was in.

"After beating Rom/during blood moon [unconfirmed], she is very kind. If you answer "I have my woes" at this point, she will give the Hunter an increasing amount of Sedatives. 1 the first time, 2 the second, 3 the third." I don't know who rom is but I got her to give me all that right after defeating amelia and I don't think the blood moon appear until the spider battle in the sea (is that Rom?)

She was Looking down until Suspicious Beggar is dead. I don't kill Shadows of Yarhnam and Rom. So, Rom are not the trigger

For me she gave me the new text option after defeating the Suspicious Beggar In the Forbidden wood (don't send him anywhere but talk to him). Shadow of Yarnam still alive at this point of my run.

I only did this once, so any confirmation would be nice. I have come to suspect that she only leaves the Cathedral after you exhaust her supply is Sedatives. I went looking for her, and went back to knock on her door at her house. No answer, but she reappeared back at the Cathedral with more Sedatives. After I took her supply she left again. I forgot to go check her house before progressing the game and she died. This leads me to believe that unless you go after her and clear the streets, she dies on the way back home. So try knocking on her door as soon as she vanishes.

I think she really dies the second time she runs of sedatives. I didn't knock on her door the first time she left and she still came back. Second time, she was already lying on the grave outside. I didn't even notice until the suspicious Oeden chapel caretaker told me the woman went outside, and she might have been murdered. True enough, I saw her outside when I stepped out.

It wasn't the Abhorrent Beast, or any beast for that matter, as I had already murdered the Abhorrent Beast when I met him in the Woods. So did she commit suicide due to the madness the Great Ones have brought? Was she tired of being alone, frightened and snapped? Or was she really murdered? I wanna say it was suicide thanks to the dialogue after killing Vicar Amelia. "Oh, How did we ever get into this mess *sobs*" "Stay away from me. I know all your tricks." Or did I trigger her suicide by taking all of her sedatives, leaving her to go into a frenzy?

#15807297
Lesser Amygdala probably killed her by grabbing her and causing frenzy. She was probably paralyzed in fear or something so she didn't think to use the sedative and exploded in a fine, bloody mist.

Eileen doesn't kill her, I don't think. Eileen died in my Henryk fight, and the old lady died way later. Near end-game. Not sure who could have done it, other than overdose.

So who killed her? And I'm sure it wasn't the suspicious beggar / beast I sent him to the clinic before that so he would get killed. Then I noticed the old woman was able to give me sedatives

Alot of people think it's Eileen. After Rom, when you find Eileen outside the Catherdral all bloody, she makes a comment. "Oh don't worry about me. I have enough blood. At least enough for an old lady." Considering Eileen was just talking about being past her prime and how her glory days were gone, You could either assume she meant she was the old lady, and that blood she had was enough for her. Or that she killed the Old Lady and her blood would be enough for Eileen. Either way, in my game she hasn't come back form the first trip and her body isn't found dead yet, but I might go back and kill Eileen just in case.

I've killed the suspicious beggar but I haven't encountered Rom and she's already left for more sedatives
