I've survived being hit by the boulders, just barely. I mean, it was regular NG, but still.

Cainhurst armour is not very good against blunt, its better off against physical, which is slashes, claws and bites. Ive been one shotted too, a direct boulder hit is very painful.

They hit with a boulder 2-5 times it split in 4 and if you are lucky then you get 5 hits

Im not sure, but i think if they hit you directly with a boulder it will always kill you. i've certainly never seen anyone survive it...

Has anyone else noticed the similarities in the skin of the Giants and the Messengers? Perhaps they are related, as both of the creatures inhabit Nightmares.

Possibly, but they also posses many differences. Like the fur, and the many wounds on the giants. Besides the height difference, the body structure is also quite different. We also have Silver beasts and winter lanterns, nightmare denizens that have different skin from both giants and messengers. The various beasts of the nightmare may vary in appearance.

The current picture showcases a brick-class Troll. Yetis are the white furry guys in Mensis and Frontier

I'm willing to dispute them dropping Blood Stone Chunks, big time. I used my item farming gear, killing enough of them to score myself 1.5M echoes in NG+. During that time, not a single chuck dropped. They usually drop one Twin Blood Stone shard and more rarely 3 of them at once, plus a super rare lead elixir that I saw twice during that time. This is for the Nightmare of Mensis version. No idea about the ones in Nightmare Frontier.

Ok, so I guess I'll just be the one to bite. Why are they called Giant lost children?

Now I ain't saying I'm right, but I thought it had something to do with the Orphanage, and that these were the child experiments that didn't turn out so bright, so the Choir used them as manual slaves. Hence the lacerations and bound feet.

These guys pack a real whallop

The "fur" on their body kind of looks like mycorrhiza (the "roots" of fungus), and it looks like they have bark growing on their skin.

Interesting note: they seem to be highly vulnerable to frenzy. In the Nightmare of Mensis, on the loft approach, if you can lure or push them into the open, the Brain might kill them for you.

This is also a good way to farm blood/twin stone shard, as every time the brain kills it you get one of these drops.

All the enemies, as far as I know, take damage from the brain. I don't think they get frenzy'd, but like you take damage in addition to frenzy.

It seems like the light from the brain deals some amount of blood damage seeing as these guys are weak to blood damage and they would be killed much more quickly. I don't think enemies can actually be frenzied fast enough for it to matter.

When you farming them for twin bloodstone in Mensis (Mergo Loft Base),sometimes their corpse will fall through the floor.
I recommend you to immediately collect the loot once you killed one

I've noticed finishing enemies with certain attacks can send them through the floor in general. I've had a variety of enemies clip into the ground when hit with a charged attack from the transformed burial blade, as well as certain attacks from the transformed saw spear.
