I had never heard of this until recently. I read there is another church/holy/righteous subgroup. Are there other weapon subgroups? Why is there no 'main page' for weapon subgroups, unless this is the only one?

There is a righteous subgroup, I think its just righteous and serrated. Ludwigs holy blade, kirk hammer, logarius wheel...etc are sample righteous weapons and they pack extra punch vs ghosts and evil spirits. Blood lickers, queen yharnam, the ghosts in cainhurst, gargoyles of cainhurst...etc

it is exclusive to the default state of the threaded cane I believe.

Just to clear this up, there are two groups of weapons in Bloodborne. Serrated, which is based off the design of the weapon and is shown on this list, and Righteous, which is basically everything else. Some bosses are weaker to one group than the other, giving a +30% buff to that weapon. The sole exception to this rule is the threaded cane, which has both Righteous and Serration damage, based upon its transformation. Whip is serration, cane is righteous,

Church Pick has both modifiers in both states. Also there are many weapons without either modifier.

Quite incorrect about Righteous; that only affects 4 enemies in the game, 3 of which are only found in Cainhurst and technically 2 in the Chalice dungeons: Vampire Bats, Noble Ghosts, Bloodlickers, and Mad Spirits.
Or, if you really want to call them this: "Lost Children of Antiquity", Silver Ladies, Bloodlickers, and Vengeful Wandering Spirits.

Only in phase 1. Ludwig the Holy Blade loses his weakness. Maybe that's meant to tell you that he's regained his humanity.

Also wondering about Laurence, since he is basically a Cleric Beast

He is for phase one and so is Laurence for the whole fight. This list is pre DLC I think.

Is it just me or is the righteous modifier entirely useless? According to the wiki page it only does bonus damage to four different enemies in the game. Three of which are in Cainhurst Castle, and one of which is a rare chalice dungeon.

it definitely doesn't compared to serrated however on a first play through or for those blood suckers which are always a hassle, some of those weapons has 50% bonus damage which is huge, it almost 2 maximum physical radial gems just as a modifier, so it has its uses.

well, if we are talking enemies alone, serrated damage affects only one enemy, the werewolves. the utility of it comes almost exclusibly from bosses, and most beast bosses are either early in game, or in the chalice dungeons. does that mean righteous damage is better? not at all, it's mostly just useful in cainhurst castle (and since the DLC came out, also in the blood river). buuut, serrated is not as good as you might think it is.
