The health sapping, combined with the just stupid amount of fall damage the game always has makes this place extremely difficult

Used the sitting pose and the jailer couldn't touch me. I was laughing so hard.

You forgot to add that the Covetous Silver Serpent ring +1 (a VERY important item) is found here on NG+ in the lift from the giant to the bonfire.

They nailed the atmosphere of this place, the enemies are creepy af, especially the Jailers and the sounds they make when running after you.

Unfortunately this area is NOT FUN to get through at all.
